[023.032]. bhadrakā bata śroṇāparāntakā manuṣyakāḥ, snehakā [24] bata śroṇāparāntakā manuṣyāḥ, ye māmasmāt pūtikalevarādalpakṛcchreṇa parimocayantīti/

[024.002]. sādhu sādhu pūrṇa, śakyastvaṃ pūrṇa anena kṣāntisaurabhyena samanvāgataḥ śroṇāparāntakeṣu janapadeṣu vastuṃ śroṇāparāntakeṣu vāsaṃ kalpayitum/
[024.003]. gaccha tvaṃ pūrṇa, mukto mocaya, tīrṇastāraya, āśvasta āśvasaya, parinirvṛtaḥ parinirvāpayeti//
[024.005]. athāyuṣmān pūrṇo bhagavato bhāṣitamabhinandyānumodya bhagavataḥ pādau śirasā vanditvā bhagavato'ntikāt prakrāntaḥ/
[024.006]. athāyuṣmān pūrṇastasyā eva rātreratyayāt pūrvāhṇe nivāsya pātracīvaramādāya śrāvastīṃ piṇḍāya prāvikṣat/
[024.007]. śrāvastīṃ piṇḍāya caritvā kṛtabhaktakṛtyaḥ paścādbhaktapiṇḍapātraḥ pratikrāntaḥ/
[024.008]. yathāparibhuktaśayanāsanaṃ pratisamayya samādāya pātracīvaram yena śroṇāparāntakā janapadāstena cārikāṃ carañ śroṇāparāntakāñ janapadānanuprāptaḥ/
[024.010]. athāyuṣmān pūrṇaḥ pūrvāhṇe nivāsya pātracīvaramādāya śroṇāparāntakaṃ piṇḍāya prāvikṣat/
[024.011]. anyatamaśca lubdhako dhanuṣpāṇirmṛgayāṃ nirgacchati/
[024.011]. tena dṛṣṭaḥ/
[024.011]. sa saṃlakṣayati--amaṅgalo'yaṃ muṇḍakaḥ śramaṇako mayā dṛṣṭa iti viditvā ā karṇād dhanuḥ pūrayitvā yenāyuṣmān pūrṇastena pradhāvitaḥ/
[024.013]. sa āyuṣmatā pūrṇena dṛṣṭaḥ/
[024.013]. dṛṣṭvā cettarāsaṅgaṃ vivartya kathayati--bhadramukha, asya duṣpūrasyārthe praviśāmi, atra prahareti/
[024.014]. gāthāṃ ca bhāṣate--
[024.015]. yasyārthe gahane caranti vihagā gacchanti bandhaṃ mṛgāḥ saṃgrāme śaraśaktatomaradharā naśyantyajasraṃ narāḥ/
[024.017]. dīnā durdinacāriṇaśca kṛpaṇā matsyā grasantyāyasam asyārthe udarasya pāpakalile dūrādihābhyāgataḥ//5// iti//
[024.019]. sa saṃlakṣayati--ayaṃ pravrajita īdṛśena kṣāntisaurabhyena samanvāgataḥ/
[024.019]. kimasya praharāmīti matvā abhiprasannaḥ/
[024.020]. tato'syāyuṣmatā pūrṇena dharmo deśyitaḥ, śaraṇagamanaśikṣāpadeśeṣu ca pratiṣṭhāpitaḥ/
[024.021]. anyāni ca pañcopāsakaśatāni kṛtāni pañcopāsikāśatāni/
[024.021]. pañcavihāraśatāni kāritāni, anekāni ca mañcapīṭhavṛṣikoccakabimbopadhānacaturasrakaśatāni anupradāpitāni/
[024.023]. tasyaiva ca trimāsasyātyayāt tisro vidyāḥ kāyena sākṣātkṛtāḥ/
[024.023]. arhan saṃvṛttaḥ/
[024.024]. traidhātukavītarāgo yāvat sendropendrāṇāṃ devānāṃ pūjyo mānyo'bhivādyaśca saṃvṛttaḥ//
[024.025]. yāvadapareṇa samayena dārukarṇibhrātrorbhogāstanutvaṃ parikṣayaṃ paryādānaṃ gatāḥ/
[024.025]. tau kathayatah--gato'sau asmākaṃ gṛhāt kālakarṇiprakhyaḥ/
[024.026]. āgaccha, ekadhye prativasāmaḥ/
[024.026]. sa kathayati--kataro'sau kālakarṇiprakhyah? tau kathayatah--pūrṇakaśrīḥ/
[024.027]. mama gṛhānniṣkrāntā/
[024.028]. nāsau kālakarṇiprakhyaḥ/
[024.028]. tau kathayatah--śrīrvā bhavatu kālakarṇī , āgaccha ekadhye prativasāmaḥ/
[024.029]. sa kathayati--yuvayoranyāyopārjitaṃ dhanam, mama nyāyopārjitam/
[024.029]. nāham yuvābhyāṃ sārdhamekadhye vāsaṃ kalpayāmīti/
[024.030]. tau kathayatah--tena dāsīputreṇa mahāsamudramavatīryāvatīrya bhogāḥ samudānītā yena tvaṃ bhuñjāno vikatthase/
[024.031]. kutastava sāmarthyaṃ mahāsamudramavatartumiti/
[024.031]. sa tābhyāṃ mānaṃ grāhitaḥ/
[024.032]. sa saṃlakṣayati--ahamapi mahāsamudramavatarāmi/

[025.001]. karṇadhāraḥ kathayati--bhavantaḥ, yattat śrūyate gośīrṣacandanavanamiti, idaṃ tat/

[025.002]. tena khalu samayena gośīrṣacandanavanaṃ maheśvarasya yakṣasya parigraho'bhūt/
[025.003]. sa ca yakṣāṇām yakṣasamitiṃ gataḥ/
[025.003]. tato gośīrṣacandanavane pañcamātrāṇi kuṭhāraśatāni voḍhumārabdhāni/
[025.004]. adrākṣīdapriyākhyo yo yakṣo gośīrṣacandanavane pañcamātrāṇi kuṭhāraśatāni vahataḥ/
[025.005]. dṛṣṭvā ca yena maheśvaro yakṣaḥ, tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[025.006]. upasaṃkramya maheśvaram yakṣamidamavocat--yat khalu grāmaṇīrjānīyā gośīrṣacandanavane pañcamātrāṇi kuṭhāraśatāni vahanti/
[025.007]. yatte kṛtyaṃ karaṇīyaṃ tatkuruṣveti/
[025.007]. atha maheśvaro yakṣo yakṣāṇāṃ samitimasamitiṃ kṛtvā saṃjātāmarṣo mahāntaṃ kālikāvātabhayaṃ saṃjanya yena gośīrṣacandanavanaṃ tena saṃprasthitaḥ/
[025.009]. karṇadhāreṇārocitam--śṛṇvantu bhavanto jāmbudvīpakā vaṇijah--yattat śrūyate mahākālikāvātabhayamiti, idaṃ tat/
[025.010]. kiṃ manyadhvamiti? tataste vaṇijo bhītāstrastāḥ saṃvignā āhṛṣṭaromakūpā devatāyācanaṃ kartumārabdhāḥ/
[025.012]. śivavaruṇakuberaśakrabrahmādyā suramanujoragayakṣadānavendrāḥ/
[025.014]. vyasanamatibhayaṃ vayaṃ prapannā vigatabhayā hi bhavantu no'dya nāthāḥ//6//
[025.016]. kecinnamasyanti śacīpatiṃ narā brahmāṇamanye hariśaṃkarāvapi/
[025.018]. bhūmyāśritān vṛkṣavanāśritāṃśca trāṇārthino vātapiśācadasthāh(yakṣāh?)//7//
[025.020]. dārukarṇī alpotsukastiṣṭhati/
[025.020]. vaṇijaḥ kathayanti--sārthavāha, vayaṃ kṛcchrasaṃkaṭasambādhaprāptāḥ/
[025.021]. kimarthamalpotsukastiṣṭhasīti? sa kathayati--bhavantaḥ, ahaṃ bhrātrā abhihitah--mahāsamudro'lpāsvādo bahvādīnavaḥ/
[025.022]. tṛṣṇāndhā bahavo'vataranti, svalpā vyutthāsyanti/
[025.022]. na tvayā kenacit prakāreṇa mahāsamudramavatartavyamiti/
[025.023]. so'haṃ tasya vacanamavacanaṃ kṛtvā mahāsamudramavatīrṇaḥ/
[025.024]. kimidānīṃ karomi? kastava bhrāatā? pūrṇaḥ/
[025.024]. vaṇijaḥ kathayanti--bhavantaḥ, sa evāryapūrṇaḥ puṇyamaheśākhyaḥ/
[025.025]. tameva śaraṇaṃ prapadyāma iti/
[025.025]. tairekasvareṇa sarvairevaṃ nādo muktah--namastasmai āryāya pūrṇāya, namo namastasmai āryāya pūrṇāyeti/
[025.026]. atha devatā āyuṣmatī pūrṇe'bhiprasannā, yenāyuṣmān pūrṇastenopasaṃkrāntā/
[025.027]. upasaṃkramya āyuṣmantaṃ pūrṇamidamavocat--ārya, bhrātā te kṛcchrasaṃkaṭasambādhaprāptaḥ, samanvāhareti/
[025.028]. tena samanvāhṛtam/
[025.029]. tata āyuṣmān pūrṇastadrūpaṃ samādhiṃ samāpanno yathā samāhite citte śroṇāparāntake'ntarhito mahāsamudre vahanasīmāyāṃ paryaṅkaṃ baddhvā avasthitaḥ/
[025.030]. tato'sau kālikāvātaḥ sumerupratyāhata iva pratinivṛttaḥ/
[025.031]. atha maheśvaro yakṣaḥ saṃlakṣayati--pūrvam yat kiṃcidvahanaṃ kālikāvātena spṛśyate, tattūlapicuvata kṣipyate viśīryate ca/
[025.032]. idānīṃ ko yogo yena kālikāvātah [26] sumerupratyāhata iva pratinivṛttah? sa itaścāmutaśca pratyavekṣitumārabdho yāvat paśyati āyuṣmantaṃ pūrṇaṃ vahanasīmāyāṃ paryaṅkaṃ baddhvāvasthitam/

[026.002]. dṛṣṭvā ca punaḥ kathayati--ārya pūrṇa, kiṃ viheṭhayasīti? āyuṣmān pūrṇaḥ kathayati--jarādharmo'ham/
[026.003]. kiṃ māmeva viheṭhayasi? yadi mayedṛśā guṇagaṇā nādhigatāḥ syurbhrātā me tvayā nāmāvaśeṣaḥ kṛtaḥ syāt/
[026.004]. maheśvaro yakṣaḥ kathayati--ārya idaṃ gośīrṣacandanavanaṃ rājñaścakaravartino'rthāya dhāryate/
[026.005]. kiṃ manyase grāmaṇīḥ kiṃ varaṃ rājā cakravartī uta tathagato'rhan samyaksambuddha? kim ārya bhagavāṃl loka utpannah? utpannaḥ/
[026.007]. yadi evam yadaparipūrṇaṃ tatparipūryatām/
[026.007]. tataste vaṇijo gatapratyāgataprāṇā āyuṣmati pūrṇe cittamabhiprasādya tadvahanaṃ gośīrṣacandanasya pūrayitvā saṃprasthitāḥ/
[026.008]. anupūrveṇa sūrpārakaṃ nagaramanuprāptāḥ//
[026.010]. tata āyuṣmān pūrṇo bhrātuḥ kathayati--yasya nāṃnā vahanaṃ saṃsiddhayānapātramāgacchati, tattasya gamyaṃ bhavati/
[026.011]. tvameṣāṃ vaṇijāṃ ratnasavibhāgaṃ kuru/
[026.011]. ahamanena gośīrṣacandanena bhagavato'rthāya candanamālaṃ prāsādaṃ kārayāmīti/
[026.012]. tena teṣāṃ vaṇijāṃ ratnaiḥ saṃvibhāgaḥ kṛtaḥ/
[026.013]. tata āyuṣmān pūrṇo gośīrṣacandanena prāsādaṃ māpayitumārabdhaḥ/
[026.013]. tena śilpānāhūyoktāh--bhavantaḥ, kiṃ divase divase pañca kārṣāpaṇaśatāni gṛhṇīdhvamāhosvit gośīrṣacandanacūrṇasya biḍālapadam? te kathayanti--ārya gośīrṣacandanacūrṇasya biḍālapadam/
[026.015]. yāvat alpīyasā kālena candanamālaḥ prāsādaḥ kṛtaḥ/
[026.016]. rājā kathayati--bahvantaḥ, śobhanaṃ prāsādam/
[026.016]. sarvajātakṛtaniṣṭhataḥ saṃvṛttaḥ/
[026.017]. yattatra saṃkalikā cūrṇaṃ cāvaśiṣṭam, tat piṣṭvā tatraiva pralepo dattaḥ/
[026.018]. te ca bhrātara parasparaṃ sarve kṣamitā uktāśca--buddhapramukhaṃ bhikṣusaṃghamupanimantrya bhojayata/

[027.001]. gacchāmah? ānanda, bhikṣūnārocaya--yo yuṣmākamutsahate śvaḥ sūrpārakaṃ nagaraṃ gatvā bhoktum, sa śalākāṃ gṛhṇātu iti/
[027.002]. evaṃ bhadanteti āyuṣmānānando bhagavataḥ pratiśrutya śalākāṃ gṛhītvā bhagavataḥ purastāt sthitaḥ/

[027.004]. tena khalu samayenāyuṣmān pūrṇaḥ kuṇḍopadhānīyakaḥ sthaviraḥ prajñāvimuktas tasyāmeva pariṣadi saṃniṣaṇṇo'bhūt/

[027.005]. so'pi śalākāṃ gṛhītumārabdhaḥ/

[027.011]. tasyaitadabhavat--yena mayā sakalaṃ kleśagaṇaṃ vāntaṃ charditaṃ tyaktaṃ pratiniḥsṛṣṭam, so'haṃ tīrthikasādhāraṇāyām ṛddhyāṃ viṣaṇṇaḥ/
[027.012]. tena vīryamāsthāya ṛddhimutpādya yāvadāyuṣmānānandas tṛtīyasthavirasya śalākāṃ na dadāti, tāvat tena gajabhujasadṛśaṃ bāhumabhiprasārya śalākā gṛhītā/
[027.014]. tato gāthāṃ bhāṣate--
[027.015]. vapuṣmattayā śrutena na balātkāraguṇaiśca gautama/
[027.016]. prabalairapi vānmanorathaiḥ ṣaḍabhijñatvamihādhigamyate//11//
[027.017]. śamaśīlavipaśyanābalairvividhairdhyānabalaiḥ parīkṣitāḥ/
[027.018]. jarayā hi nipīḍitayauvanāḥ ṣaḍabhijñā hi bhavanti madvidhāḥ//12// iti//
[027.019]. tatra bhagavān bhikṣūnāmantrayate sma--eṣo'gro me bhikṣavo bhikṣūṇāṃ mama śrāvakāṇāṃ caityaśalākāgrahaṇe/
[027.020]. tatprathamataḥ śalākāṃ gṛhṇatām yaduta pūrṇaḥ kuṇḍopadhānīyakaḥ sthaviraḥ/
[027.020]. tatra bhagavānāyuṣmantamānandamāmantrayate--gaccha ānanda bhikṣūṇāmārocaya/
[027.021]. kiṃ cāpi uktaṃ mayā--praticchannakalyāṇairvo bhikṣavo vihartavyaṃ vivṛtapāpairiti, api tu tīrthikāvastabdhaṃ tannagaram/
[027.023]. yo vo yasyā ṛddherlābhī, tena tayā tatra sūrpārakaṃ nagaraṃ gatvā bhoktavyamiti/
[027.023]. evaṃ bhadanteti āyuṣmānānando bhagavataḥ pratiśrutya bhikṣūṇāmārocayati--āyuṣmantaḥ, bhagavānevamāha--kiṃ cāpi uktaṃ mayā praticchannakalyāṇairvo bhikṣavo vihartavyamiti pūrvavat yāvat gatvā bhoktavyamiti/
[027.026]. tataḥ sūrpārakarājñā sūrpārakanagaramapagatapāṣāṇaśarkarakaṭhallaṃ vyavasthāpitaṃ candanavāripariṣiktaṃ nānāvidhasurabhidhūpaghaṭikāsamalaṃkṛtamāmuktapaṭṭadāmakalāpaṃ nānāpuṣpābhikīrṇaṃ ramaṇīyam/

[027.029]. pratyekamekaikasmin dvāre paramayā vibhūtyā rājaputrā vyavasthitāḥ/
[027.029]. mūladvāre ca mahatā rājānubhāvena sūrpārakādhipatī rājā āyuṣmān pūrṇo dārukarṇī stavakarṇī trapukarṇī ca vyavasthitaḥ/
[027.031]. yāvat patracārikā ṛddhyā haritacārikā bhājanacārikāścāgatāḥ/
[027.031]. tān dṛṣṭvā rājā kathayati--bhadanta pūrṇa, kiṃ bhagavānāgatah? āyuṣmān pūrṇaḥ kathayati--mahārāja [28] patracārikā haritacārikā bhājanacārikāścaite, na tāvat bhagavān/

[028.001]. yāvat sthavirasthavirā bhikṣavo'nekavidhābhirdhyānasamāpattibhiḥ saṃprāptaḥ/
[028.002]. punarapi pṛcchati--bhadanta pūrṇa, kiṃ bhagavānāgatah? āyuṣmān pūrṇaḥ kathayati--mahārāja na bhagavān, api tu khalu sthavirasthavirā eva te bhikṣava iti/
[028.004]. athānyatamopāsakastasyāṃ velāyāṃ gāthāṃ bhāṣate--
[028.005]. siṃhavyāghragajāśvanāgavṛṣabhānāśritya kecit śubhān kecidratnavimānaparvatatarūṃścitrān rathāṃścojjvalān/
[028.007]. anye toyadharā ivāmbaratale vidyullatālaṃkṛtā ṛddhyā devapurīmiva pramuditā gantuṃ samabhyudyatāḥ//13//

[028.012]. yāvad bhagavatā gandhakuṭyāṃ sābhisaṃskāraṃ pādo nyastaḥ, ṣaḍvikāraḥ pṛthivīkampo jātah--iyaṃ mahāpṛthivī calati saṃcalati saṃpracalati/
[028.014]. vyadhati pravyadhati saṃpravyadhati/
[028.014]. pūrvadigbhāga unnamati, paścimo'vanamati/
[028.015]. paścima unnamati, pūrvo'vanamati/
[028.015]. dakṣiṇa unnamati, uttaro'vanamati/
[028.015]. uttara unnamati, dakṣiṇo'vanamati/

[028.016]. rājā āyuṣmantaṃ pūrṇaṃ pṛcchati--ārya pūrṇa, kimetat? sa kathayati--mahārāja, bhagavatā gandhakuṭyāṃ sābhisaṃskāraḥ pādo nyastaḥ, tena ṣaṭvikāraḥ pṛthivīkampo jātaḥ/
[028.018]. tato bhagavatā kanakamarīcivarṇaprabhā utsṛṣṭā yayā jambudvīpo vilīnakanakāvabhāsaḥ saṃvṛttaḥ/
[028.019]. punarapi rājā vismayotphullalocanaḥ pṛcchati--ārya pūrṇa, idaṃ kim? sa kathayati--mahārāja bhagavatā kanakamarīcivarṇaprabhā utsṛṣṭeti//
[028.021]. tato bhagavān dānto dāntaparivāraḥ śāntaḥ śāntaparivāraḥ pañcabhirarhacchāntaiḥ sārdhaṃ sūrpārakābhimukhaḥ saṃprasthitaḥ/
[028.022]. atha jetavananivāsinī devatā, bakulaśākhāṃ gṛhītvā bhagavataśchāyāṃ kurvantī pṛṣṭataḥ saṃprasthitā/
[028.023]. tasyā bhagavatā āśayaṃ dhātuṃ prakṛtiṃ ca jñātvā tādṛśī caturāryasatyasamprativedhakī dharmadeśanā kṛtā, yāṃ śrutvā tayā devatayā viṃśatiśikharasamudgataṃ satkāyadṛṣṭiśailaṃ jñānavajreṇa bhittvā śrotāpattiphalaṃ sākṣātkṛtam/

[028.026]. adrākṣustā buddhaṃ bhagavantaṃ dvātriṃśatā mahāpuruṣalakṣaṇaiḥ samalaṃkṛtamaśītyānuvyañjanairvirājitagātraṃ vyāmaprabhālaṃkṛtaṃ sūryasahasrātirekaprabhaṃ jaṅgamamiva ratnaparvataṃ samantato bhadrakam/

[028.029]. dharmataiṣā--na tathā dvādaśavarṣābhyastaḥ śamathaścittasya kalyatāṃ janayati aputrasya ca putralābho daridrasya nidhidarśanaṃ rājyābhinandino rājyābhiṣeko yathopacitakuśalamūlahetukasya sattvasya tatprathamato buddhadarśanam/

[029.003]. dṛṣṭasatyās trirudānamudānayanti--idamasmākaṃ bhadanta na mātrā kṛtaṃ na pitrā kṛtaṃ na rājñā neṣṭasvajanabandhuvargeṇa na devatābhir na pūrvapretair na śramaṇabrāhmaṇairyad bhagavatāsmākaṃ tatkṛtam/
[029.005]. ucchoṣitā rudhirāśrusamudrāḥ, laṅghitā asthiparvatāḥ, pihitānyapāyadvārāṇi, pratiṣṭhāpitā vayaṃ devamanuṣyeṣu atikrāntātikrāntāḥ/
[029.006]. etā vayaṃ bhagavataṃ śaraṇaṃ gacchāmo dharmaṃ ca bhikṣusaṃghaṃ ca/
[029.007]. upāsikāścāsmān bhagavān dhārayatu/
[029.007]. tata utthāyāsanāt yena bhagavāṃstenāñjaliṃ praṇamya bhagavantamidamavocan--aho bata bhagavānasmākaṃ kiṃcidatra prayacchet yatra vayaṃ kārāṃ kariṣyāmaḥ/
[029.009]. tato bhagavatā ṛddhyā keśanakhamutsṛṣṭam/
[029.009]. tābhirbhagavataḥ keśanakhastūpaḥ pratiṣṭhāpitaḥ/
[029.010]. tatastayā jetavananivāsinyā tasmin stūpe yaṣṭyāṃ bakulaśākhāropitā/
[029.010]. bhagavāṃścoktah--bhagavan, ahamasmin stūpe kārāṃ kurvantī tiṣṭhāmīti/

[029.012]. tatra kecit ghariṇīstūpa iti saṃjānate, kecit bakulamedhīti, yamadyāpi caityavandakā bhikavo vandante/

[029.016]. upasaṃkramya tasmādāśramapadāt puṣpaphalamṛddhyā śāmitam, salilaṃ śoṣitam, haritaśāḍvalaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ sthaṇḍilāni pātitāni/
[029.017]. tataste ṛṣayaḥ kare kapolaṃ dattvā cintāparā vyavasthitāḥ/
[029.018]. tato bhagavatā abhihitāh--maharṣayaḥ, kimarthaṃ cintāparāstiṣṭhateti/
[029.018]. te kathayanti--bhagavaṃstvaṃ dvipādakaṃ puṇyakṣetramiha praviṣṭo'smākaṃ cedṛśī samavasthā/
[029.019]. bhagavānāha--kim? te kathayanti--bhagavan, puṣpaphalasalilasampannamāśramapadaṃ vinaṣṭam yathāpaurāṇaṃ bhavatu/
[029.021]. bhavatu ityāha bhagavān/
[029.021]. tato bhagavatā ṛddhiḥ prasrabdhā, yathāpaurāṇaṃ saṃvṛttam/

[029.026]. tataste bhagavatā ehibhikṣukayā ābhāṣitāh--eta bhikṣavaścarata brahmacaryamiti/
[029.027]. bhagavato vācāvasāne muṇḍāḥ saṃvṛttāḥ saṃghāṭiprāvṛtāḥ pātrakaravyagrahastāḥ saptāhāvaropitakeśaśmaśravo varṣaśatopasampannasya bhikṣorīryāpathena avasthitāḥ/

[030.005]. tena khalu samayena musalake parvate vakkalī nāma ṛṣiḥ prativasati/
[030.006]. adrākṣīt sa ṛṣirbhagavantaṃ dūrādeva dvātriṃśatā mahāpuruṣalakṣaṇaiḥ samalaṃkṛtaṃ pūrvavat yāvat samantato bhadrakam/

[030.007]. sa prasādajātaścintayati--yannvahaṃ parvatādavatīrya bhagavantaṃ darśanāyopasaṃkramiṣyāmi/

[030.012]. tato bhagavantamidamavocat--labheyāhaṃ bhadanta svākhyāte dharmavinaye pravrajyāmupasampadaṃ bhikṣubhāvaṃ pūrvavat yāvat bhagavatā ehibhikṣukayā pravrājito yāvadevaṃ sthito buddhamanorathena//
[030.014]. tatra bhagavān bhikṣūnāmantrayate sma--eṣo'gro me bhikṣavo bhikṣūṇāṃ mama śraddhādhimuktānām yaduta vakkalī bhikṣuriti/
[030.015]. tato bhagavān bhikṣusahasraparivṛto vicitrāṇi prātihāryāṇi kurvan sūrpārakaṃ nagaramanuprāptaḥ/
[030.016]. bhagvān saṃlakṣayati--yadi ekena dvāreṇa praviśāmi, apareṣāṃ bhaviṣyati anyathātvam/
[030.017]. yannvaham ṛddhyaiva praviśeyamiti/
[030.017]. tata ṛddhyā upari vihāyasā madhye sūrpārakasya nagarasyāvatīrṇaḥ/
[030.018]. tataḥ sūrpārakādhipatī rājā āyuṣmān pūrṇo dārukarṇī stavakarṇī trapukarṇī te ca saptadaśa putrāḥ svakasvakena parivāreṇa yena bhagavāṃstenopasaṃkrāntāḥ, anekāni ca prāṇiśatasahasrāṇi/
[030.020]. tato bhagavānanekaiḥ prāṇiśatasahasrairanugamyamāno yena candanamālaḥ prāsādas tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[030.021]. upasaṃkramya purastādbhikṣusaṃghasya prajñapta evāsane niṣaṇṇaḥ/
[030.022]. sa janakāyo bhagavantamapaśyaṃś candanamālaṃ prāsādaṃ bhettumārabdhaḥ/
[030.022]. bhagavān saṃlakṣayati--yadi candanamālaḥ prāsādo bhetsyate, dātṛrṇāṃ puṇyāntarāyo bhaviṣyati/
[030.023]. yannvahamenaṃ sphaṭikamayaṃ nirminuyāmiti/
[030.024]. sa bhagavatā sphaṭikamayo nirmitaḥ/
[030.024]. tato bhagavatā tasyāḥ pariṣad āśayānuśayaṃ dhātuṃ prakṛtiṃ ca jñātvā tādṛśī dharmadeśanā kṛtā, yāṃ śrutvā anekaiḥ prāṇiśatasahasrairmahān viśeṣo'dhigataḥ/
[030.026]. kaiścinmokṣabhāgīyāni kuśalamūlāni utpāditāni, kaiścinnirvedhabhāgīyāni, kaiścit srotāpattiphalaṃ sākṣātkṛtam, kaiścit sakṛdāgāmiphalam, kaiścidanāgāmiphalam, kaiścit sarvakleśaprahāṇādarhattvaṃ sākṣātkṛtam, kaiścit śrāvakabodhau cittānyutpāditāni, kaiścit pratyekabodhau, kaiścidanuttarāyāṃ samyaksambodhau cittānyutpāditāni/
[030.030]. yadbhūyasā parṣad buddhaniṃnā dharmapravaṇā saṃghaprāgbhārā vyavasthāpitā//
[030.031]. atha dārukarṇī stavakarṇī trapukarṇī ca praṇītaṃ khādanīyaṃ bhojanīyaṃ samudānīya āsanāni prajñāpya bhagavato dūtena kālamārocayanti--samayo bhadanta, sajjaṃ bhaktam yasyedānīṃ bhagavān kālam [31] manyata iti/

[031.002]. tatastau pañcanāgaśataparivārau pañcanadīśatāni saṃjanya sūrpārakaṃ nagaraṃ saṃprasthitau/
[031.003]. asaṃmoṣadharmāṇo buddhā bhagavantaḥ/
[031.004]. bhagavān saṃlakṣayati--imau kṛṣṇagautamau nāgarājau yadi sūrpārakaṃ nagaramāgamiṣyataḥ, agocarīkariṣyataḥ/
[031.005]. tatra bhagavānāyuṣmantaṃ mahāmaudgalyāyanamāmantrayate--pratigṛhāṇa mahāmaudgalyāyana tathāgatasyātyayikapiṇḍapātam/
[031.006]. tatkasya hetoh? pañca me maudgalyāyana ātyayikapiṇḍapātāḥ/
[031.007]. katame pañca? āgantukasya gamikasya glānasya glānopasthāyakasyopadhivārikasya ca/
[031.007]. asmiṃstvarthe bhagavānupādhau vartate/
[031.008]. atha bhagavān maudgalyāyanasahāyo yena kṛṣṇagautamakau nāgarājau tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[031.009]. tau kathayatah--samanvāharata nāgendrau sūrpārakaṃ nagaramagocarībhaviṣyati/
[031.010]. tau kathayatah--tādṛśena bhadanta prasādena vayamāgatā yanna śakyamasmābhiḥ kuntapipīlikasyāpi prāṇinaḥ pīḍāmutpādayituṃ prāgeva sūrpārakanagaranivāsino janakāyasyeti/
[031.012]. tato bhagavatā kṛṣṇagautamakayor nāgarājayostādṛśo dharmo yaṃ śrutvā buddhaṃ śaraṇaṃ gatau, dharmaṃ saṃghaṃ ca śaraṇaṃ gatau, śikṣāpadāni ca gṛhītāni/
[031.013]. bhagavān bhaktakṛtyaṃ kartumārabdhaḥ/
[031.014]. ekaiko nāgaḥ saṃlakṣayati--aho bata bhagavān mama pānīyaṃ pibatu iti/
[031.015]. bhagavān saṃlakṣayti--yadi ekasyeiva pānīyaṃ pāsyāmi, eṣāṃ bhaviṣyati anyathātvam/
[031.015]. upāyasaṃvidhānaṃ kartavyamiti/
[031.016]. tatra bhagavānāyuṣmantaṃ mahāmaudgalyāyanamāmantrayate--gaccha maudgalyāyana, yatra pañcānāṃ nadīśatānāṃ saṃbhedaḥ, tasmādudakasya pātrapūramānaya/
[031.017]. evaṃ bhadanteti āyuṣmān mahāmaudgalyāyano bhagavataḥ pratiśrutya yatra pañcānāṃ nadīśatānāṃ saṃbhedastatrodakasya pātrapūramādāya yena bhagavāṃstenopasaṃkrāntaḥ/
[031.019]. upasaṃkramya bhagavata udakasya pātrapūramupanāmayati/
[031.020]. bhagavatā gṛhītvā paribhuktam/
[031.020]. āyuṣmān mahāmaudgalyāyanaḥ saṃlakṣayati--pūrvamuktaṃ bhagavatā--duṣkarakārakau hi bhikṣavaḥ putrasya mātāpitarau āpyāyakau poṣakau saṃvardhakau stanyasya dātārau citrasya jambudvīpasya darśayitārau/
[031.022]. ekenāṃśena putro mātaraṃ dvitīyena pitaraṃ pūrṇavarṣaśataṃ paricaret, yadvā asyāṃ mahāpṛthivyāṃ maṇayo muktā vaidūryaśaṅkhaśilāpravālaṃ rajataṃ jātarūpamaśmagarbho musāragalvo lohitikā dakṣiṇāvarta iti, evamrūpe vividhaiśvaryādhipatye pratiṣṭhāpayat, neyatā putreṇa mātāpitaroḥ kṛtaṃ syādupakṛtaṃ /
[031.025]. yastu asāvaśrāddhaṃ mātāpitaraṃ śraddhāsampadi samādāpayati vinayati niveśayati pratiṣṭhāpayati, duḥśīlaṃ śīlasampadi, matsariṇaṃ tyāgasampadi, duṣprajñaṃ prajñāsampadi samādāpayati vinayati niveśayati pratiṣṭhāpayati, iyatā putreṇa mātāpitroḥ kṛtaṃ syādupakṛtaṃ veti/

[031.028]. yadahaṃ samanvāhareyaṃ kutra me mātā upapanneti/

[032.002]. tato bhagavānāyuṣmāṃśca mahāmaudgalyāyanaḥ sumerumūrdhni pādān sthāpayantau saṃprasthitau/
[032.003]. saptame divase marīcikaṃ lokadhātumanuprāptaḥ/
[032.004]. adrākṣīt bhadrakanyā āyuṣmantaṃ mahāmaudgalyāyanaṃ dūrādeva/
[032.004]. dṛṣṭvā ca punaḥ sasambhramāt tatsakāśamupasaṃkramya kathayati--cirādbata putrakaṃ paśyāmīti/

[032.006]. kathamasya mātā bhavatīti? āyuṣmān maudgalyāyanaḥ kathayati--bhavantaḥ, mama ime skandhā anyāḥ saṃvṛddhāḥ/

[032.020]. adhivāsayatu me bhagavānadya piṇḍapātena sārdhamāryamahāmaudgalyāyaneneti/
[032.020]. adhivāsayati bhagavāṃs tasyā bhadrakanyāyāstūṣṇībhāvena/
[032.021]. atha bhadrakanyā bhagavantamāyuṣmantaṃ ca mahāmaudgalyāyanaṃ sukhopaniṣaṇṇaṃ viditvā śucinā praṇītena khādanīyena bhojanīyena svahastaṃ saṃtarpya saṃpravārya bhagavantaṃ bhuktavantaṃ viditvā dhātahastamapanītapātraṃ nīcataramāsanaṃ gṛhītvā bhagavataḥ purastānniṣaṇṇā dharmaśravaṇāya/
[032.024]. bhagavatā tasyā dharmo deśitaḥ/
[032.024]. āyuṣmān mahāmaudgalyāyano bhagavataḥ pātragrāhakaḥ pātraṃ niryātayati/

[032.026]. gacchāmo bhagavan/
[032.026]. kasya ṛddhyā? tathāgatasya bhagavataḥ/

[032.027]. maudgalyāyanastato vismayāvarjitamatiḥ kathayati--kiṃ nāmeyaṃ bhagavann ṛddhih? manojavā maudgalyāyana/
[032.028]. na mayā bhadanta vijñātamevaṃ gambhīramevaṃ gambhīrā buddhadharmā iti/
[032.029]. yadi vijñātamabhaviṣyat, tilaśo'pi me saṃcūrṇitaśarīreṇānuttarāyāḥ samyaksambodheścittaṃ vyāvartitamabhaviṣyat/
[032.030]. idānīṃ kiṃ karomi dagdhendhana iti//
[032.031]. tato bhikṣavaḥ saṃśayajātāḥ sarvasaṃśayacchettāraṃ buddhaṃ bhagavantaṃ papracchuh--kiṃ bhadanta āyuṣmatā pūrṇena karma kṛtam yenāḍhye mahādhane mahābhoge kule jātaḥ, kiṃ karma kṛtam yena [33] dāsyāḥ kukṣau upapannaḥ, pravrajya ca sarvakleśaprahāṇādarhattvaṃ sākṣātkṛtam? bhagavānāha--pūrṇena bhikṣavo bhikṣuṇā karmāṇi kṛtāni upacitāni labdhasambhārāṇi pariṇatapratyayāni oghavatpratyupasthitāani avaśyambhāvīni/

[033.018]. sa kathayati--yadyapyevaṃ tathāpi tu yanmayā pravrajya caraṇīyaṃ tatkṛtamahaṃ sakalabandhanābaddhaḥ/
[033.019]. kharaṃ te vākkarma niścāritam/
[033.020]. atyayamatyayato deśaya/
[033.020]. apyevaitatkarma tanutvaṃ parikṣayaṃ paryādānaṃ gacchediti/
[033.021]. tenātyayamatyayato deśitam/
[033.021]. yattena naraka upapadya dāsīputreṇa bhavitavyam, tannarake nopapannaḥ/
[033.022]. pañca tu janmaśatāni dāsyāḥ kukṣau upapannaḥ/
[033.022]. yāvadetarhyapi carame bhave dāsyā eva kukṣau upapannaḥ/
[033.023]. yat saṃghasyopasthānaṃ kṛtam, tenāḍhye mahādhane mahābhoge kule jātaḥ/
[033.024]. yattatra paṭhitaṃ svādhyāyitaṃ skandhakauśalaṃ ca kṛtam, tena mama śāsane pravrajya sarvakleśaprahāṇādarhattvaṃ sākṣātkṛtam/
[033.025]. iti hi bhikṣava ekāntakṛṣṇānāṃ karmaṇāmekāntakṛṣṇo vipākaḥ, ekāntaśuklānāṃ karmaṇāmekāntaśuklo vipākaḥ, vyatimiśrāṇāṃ vyatimiśraḥ/
[033.027]. tasmāt tarhi bhikṣava ekāntakṛṣṇāni karmāṇyapāsya vyatimiśrāṇi ca, ekāntaśukleṣveva karmasvābhogaḥ karaṇīyaḥ/
[033.028]. ityevaṃ vo bhikṣavaḥ śikṣitavyam//
[033.029]. idamavocadbhagavān/
[033.029]. āttamanasaste bhikṣavo bhagavato bhāṣitamabhyanandanniti//
