[152.012]. tadā ca vāsavena rājñā dvādaśavarṣāṇi yajñamiṣṭvā yajñāvasāne rājñā pañca mahāpradānāni vyavasthāpitāni, tadyathā--sauvarṇakaṃ daṇḍakamaṇḍalu, sauvarṇā sapātrī, catūratnamayī śayyā, pañca kārṣāpaṇaśatāni, kanyā ca sarvālaṃkāravibhūṣitā/

[152.025]. yato rājā vāsavastyau sumatiṃ māṇavaṃ pṛcchati--bhavān sumati? tenoktam--aham/
[152.028]. yato rājā vāsavaḥ sumatiṃ māṇavamagrāsane bhojayitvā pañca pradānāni prayacchati/
[152.029]. sumatirmāṇavaścatvāri mahāpradānāni gṛhṇāti daṇḍakamaṇḍaluprabhṛtīni, ekaṃ kanyāpradānaṃ na pratigṛhṇāti/

[153.003]. tenopakrameṇa tadalaṃkārikaṃ suvarṇaṃ datvā devaśuśraūṣikā saṃvṛttā/
[153.004]. sa ca māṇavakaḥ sumatistāni catvāri mahāpradānāni gṛhya upādhyāyasakāśaṃ gataḥ/
[153.005]. gatvā copādhyāyāya tāni catvāri mahāpradānānyanuprayacchati/
[153.006]. tebhyaścopādhyāyastrīṇi pratigṛhṇāti, kārṣāpaṇānāṃ tu pañca śatāni tasyaiva sumaterdadāti/
[153.006]. sa ca sumatistasyāmeva rātrau daśa svapnānadrākṣīt--mahāsamudraṃ pibāmi, vaihāyasena gacchāmi, imau candrādityau evaṃmaharddhikau evaṃmahānubhāvau pāṇinā āmārṣṭi parimārṣṭi, rājño rathe yojayāmi ṛṣīn, śvetān hastinaḥ, haṃsān, siṃhān, mahāśailaṃ parvatāniti/

[155.016]. tāni ca bhagavatā dīpaṃkareṇa samyaksambuddhena tathā adhiṣṭhitāni, yathā śakaṭīcakramātrāṇi vitānaṃ buddhvā vyavasthitāni/
[155.017]. gacchato'nugacchanti, tiṣṭhato'nutiṣṭhanti/
[155.018]. tathā dṛṣṭvā tayā dārikayā prasādajātayā dvau padmau bhagavataḥ kṣiptau/
[155.018]. tau cāpi bhagavatā tathā adhiṣṭhitau yathā śakaṭīcakramātrau karṇasamīpe vitānaṃ baddhvā vyavasthitau/
[155.019]. tatra ca pradeśe tumulena vātavarṣeṇa kardamo jātaḥ/
[155.020]. paścāt sumatirmāṇavo buddhaṃ bhagavantaṃ sakardamaṃ pṛthivīpradeśamupagataḥ/
[155.021]. tasmin sakardame pṛthivīpradeśe jātaṃ saṃtīrya bhagavato bhagavataḥ purato gāthāṃ bhāṣate--
[155.022]. yadi buddho bhaviṣyāmi bodhāya buddhavodhana/
[155.023]. ākramiṣyasi me padbhyāṃ jaṭāṃ janmajarāntakām//3//
[155.024]. tatastena dīpaṃkareṇa samyaksambuddhena samyaksambuddhena tasya sumatermāṇavasya jaṭāsu pādau vyavasthāpitau/
[155.025]. tasya ca sumateḥ pṛṣṭhato'nubuddha eva matirmāṇavastiṣṭhati/
[155.025]. tena kupitenābhihitaṃ bhagavato dīpaṃkarasya--paśya tāvadbhoḥ, anena dīpaṃkareṇa samyaksambuddhenāsya sumatermāṇavasya tiraścām yathā padbhyāṃ jaṭā avaṣṭabdhāḥ/
[155.027]. paścāt dīpaṃkareṇa samyaksambuddhena sumatirmāṇavo vyākṛtah--bhaviṣyasi tvaṃ nṛbhavādvimukto mukto vimurlokahitāya śāstā/

[156.005]. praṇidhānam yatra kuryāstvaṃ buddhamāsādya nāyakam/

[156.017]. yadā sumatirmāṇavo'nuttarāyāṃ samyaksambuddhau vyākṛtaḥ, tadā dīpena rājñā vāsavena ca rājñā tairanekaiśca naigamajānapadaiḥ sarvopakaraṇaiḥ pravārito'nāgataguṇāvekṣatayā/
[156.019]. tataḥ sa matirmāṇava ucyate--ahamanuttarasyāṃ samyaksambodhau vyākṛtah--tvayā kutra cittamutpāditam? sa kathayati--kṣato'haṃ sumate māṇava/

[156.029]. yāni tānyaśītiramātyasahasrāṇi tena kālena tena samayena, tānyetarhyaśītirdevatāsahasrāṇi/
[156.030]. yo'sau dīpāvatīyako janakāyaḥ, yāsau dārikā, eṣaiva yaśodharā/
[156.030]. yo'sau sumatiḥ, ahameva tasmin samaye bodhisattvacaryāyāṃ vartāmi/

[157.007]. sa ca gṛhapatistāṃ patnīmevamāha--jāto'smākam ṛṇadharo dhanaharaḥ/
[157.008]. gacchāmyahamidānīṃ bhadre vaṇigdharmāṇāṃ deśāntaraṃ bhāṇḍamādāya/
[157.009]. sa ca vaṇiglokenāvṛto dūrataraṃ gato bhāṇḍamādāya/
[157.009]. yato'sya na bhūyaściramapyāgacchati/
[157.010]. sa ca dārakaḥ kālāntareṇa mahān saṃvṛtto'bhirūpo darśanīyaḥ prāsādikaḥ/
[157.011]. tato'sau mātaraṃ pṛcchati--amba, kimasmākaṃ kulārthāgataṃ karma? kathayati--vatsa, pitā tava āpaṇaṃ vāhayannāsīt/
[157.012]. tataḥ sa dāraka āpaṇamārabdho vāhayitum/
[157.012]. ca mātā asya kleśairbādhyamānā cintayituṃ pravṛttā--ka upāyaḥ syāt yadahaṃ kleśān vinodayeyam, na ca me kaścijjānīyāt? tayā saṃcintyaivamadhyavasitam--evameva putrakāmahetostathā paricarāmi, yathā anenaiva me sārdhaṃ rogavinodakaṃ bhavati, naiva svajanasya śaṅkā bhaviṣyati/
[157.016]. tatastayā vṛddhayuvatī āhūya bhojayitvā dvis triḥ paścānnavena paṭenācchāditā/
[157.016]. tasyāḥ vṛddhā kathayati--kena kāryeṇaiva mamānuprasādādinā upakrameṇānupravṛttiṃ karoṣi? tasyā vṛddhāyā viśvastā bhūtvā evamāha--amba, śṛṇu vijñāpyam/
[157.018]. kleśairatīva bādhye, priyatāṃ mamotpādya manuṣyānveṣaṇaṃ kuru, yo'bhyantara eva syānna ca śaṅkanīyo janasya/
[157.019]. vṛddhā kathayati--neha gṛhe tathāvidho manuṣyaḥ saṃvidyate, nāpi praṇayavān kaścit praviśati, yo janasyāśaṅkanīyo bhavet/
[157.021]. katamaḥ sa manuṣyo bhaviṣyati yasyāhaṃ vakṣyāmi? tataḥ vaṇikpatnī tasyā vṛddhāyāḥ kathayati--yadyanyo manuṣya evaṃvidhopakramayukto nāsti, eṣa eva me putro bhavati, naiṣa lokasya śaṅkanīyo bhaviṣyati/
[157.023]. tasyāstayā vṛddhayā abhihitam--kathaṃ nu putreṇa sārdhaṃ ratikrīḍāṃ gamiṣyasi? yuktaṃ syādanyena manuṣyeṇa sārdhaṃ ratikrīḍāmanubhavitum/
[157.024]. tataḥ vaṇikpatnī kathayati--yadyanyo'bhyantaro manuṣyo na saṃvidyate, bhavatu eṣa eva me putraḥ/
[157.025]. tayā vṛddhayā abhihitam--yathepsitaṃ kuru/
[157.026]. tataḥ vṛddhayuvatī tasya vaṇijaḥ putrasyaivāgamya pṛcchati--vatsa, taruṇo'si rūpavāṃśca/
[157.027]. kiṃ pratiṣṭhito'syārthena? tena tasyā abhihitam--kimetat? tataḥ vṛddhā kathayati--bhavānevamabhirūpaśca yuvā ca asmin vayasi taruṇayuvatyā sārdhaṃ śobhethāḥ krīḍan raman paricārayan/ kimeva kāmabhogaparihīnastiṣṭhasi? vaṇigdārakastaṃ śrutvā lajjāvyapatrāpyasamlīnacetāstasyā vṛddhāyāstadvacanaṃ nādhivāsayati/
[157.030]. tataḥ vṛddhā evaṃ dvirapi trirapi tasya dārakasya kathayati--taruṇayuvatistavārthe kleśairbādhyate/
[157.031]. sa vaṇigdārako dvirapi trirapyucyamānastasyā vṛddhāyāḥ kathayati--amba, kiṃ tasyāstaruṇayuvatyāḥ saṃnimitte kiṃcidabhihitam? tatah [158] vṛddhā kathayati--uktaṃ tasyā mayā tannimittam/

[158.004]. tenoktam--kutrāvakāśe tava gṛham? tato'sya tayā vṛddhayā gṛhaṃ vyapadiṣṭam/
[158.005]. ca vṛddhā tasyā vaṇikpatnyāḥ sakāśaṃ gatvā kathayati--icchāpitaḥ sa vo'yaṃ dārakaḥ/
[158.006]. kathayati--kutrāvakāśe saṃgataṃ bhaviṣyati? madīye gṛhe/
[158.007]. sa ca dārakaḥ kāryāṇi kṛtvā gataḥ/
[158.007]. anupūrveṇa bhuktvā tasyā mātuḥ kathayati--gacchāmyaham/
[158.008]. vayasyagṛhe svapsye/
[158.008]. tato'sya mātrāpyanujñātam--gaccha/
[158.008]. sa dārako labdhānujñastasyā vṛddhāyā gṛhaṃ gataḥ/
[158.009]. tasya dārakasya tasmin gṛhe gatasya ratikrīḍākālamāgamayamānasya tiṣṭhato niśikālamapratyabhijñātam/
[158.010]. rūpe kāle mātā asya vaṇigdārakasya tasminneva gṛhe ratikrīḍāmanubhavanārthaṃ tatraiva gatā/
[158.011]. gatvā ca tasmin gṛhe vikālamavyaktiṃ vibhāvyamāne rūpākṛtau nirgūḍhenopacārakrameṇa ratikrīḍāṃ putreṇa sārdhamanubhavituṃ pravṛttā pāpakenāsaddharmeṇa/
[158.013]. ca parikṣīṇāyāṃ rātrau anubhūtaratikrīḍā satamondhakāre kālāyāmeva rajanyāmavibhāvyamānarūpākṛtau svagṛhaṃ gacchati/
[158.014]. sa cāpi vaṇigdārako ratikrīḍāmanubhūya prabhātāyāṃ rajanyāṃ bhāṇḍāvāriṃ gatvā kuṭumbakāryāṇi karoti/
[158.015]. evaṃ dvirapi trirapi/
[158.015]. tatra vṛddhāyā gṛhe ratikrīḍāmanubhavaṃśca cirakālamevaṃ vartamānena ratikrīḍākrameṇa tasya dārakasya mātā cintayituṃ pravṛttā--kiyatkālamabyadgṛhamahamevamavibhāvyamānarūpā ratikrīḍāmanubhaviṣyāmi? yannvahamasyaitat ratikrīḍākramaṃ tathāvidhaṃ krameṇa saṃvedayeyam, yathā ihaiva gṛhe ratikrīḍā bhavet/
[158.019]. iti saṃcintya tatraiva vṛddhāgṛhe gatvā ratikrīḍāṃ putreṇa sārdhamanubhūya rajanyāḥ kṣaye satamondhakārakāle tasya dārakasyoparimaṃ prāvaraṇaṃ nivasyātmanīyāṃ ca śirottarapaṭṭikāṃ tyaktvā svagṛhaṃ gatā/
[158.021]. sa ca dārakaḥ prabhāakāle tāṃ paṭṭikāṃ śirasi mañcasyāvatiṣṭhantīṃ saṃpaśyati/
[158.022]. ātmīyāmevopariprāvaraṇapotrīmalabhamānastatraiva tāṃ paṭṭikāṃ saṃlakṣya tyaktvā bhāṇḍāvārīṃ gatvā yugalamanyaṃ prāvṛtya svagṛhaṃ gataḥ/
[158.023]. tatra ca gataḥ saṃpaśyati tamevātmīyaṃ pravaraṇaṃ tasyā mātuḥ śirasi prāvṛtam/
[158.024]. dṛṣṭvā ca tāṃ mātaraṃ pṛcchati--amba, kuto'yaṃ śirasi prāvaraṇo'bhyāgatah? yatastayā abhihitam--adyāpyahaṃ tavāmbā? evaṃ cirakālaṃ tava mayā sārdhaṃ kāmān paribhuñjato'dyāpyahaṃ tava saivāmbā? yataḥ sa vaṇigdārakastathāvidhaṃ mātṛvacanamupaśrutya saṃmūḍho vihvalacetā bhūmau nipatitaḥ/
[158.027]. tatastayā sa mātrā ghaṭajalapariṣekeṇāvasiktaḥ/
[158.027]. sa jalapariṣekāvasikto dārakaścireṇa kālena pratyāgataprāṇastayā mātrā samāśvāsyate--kimevaṃ khedamupāgatastvam? asmadīyaṃ vacanamupaśrutya dhīramanā bhavasva/
[158.029]. na te viṣādaḥ karaṇīyaḥ/
[158.029]. sa dārakastasyāḥ kathayati--kathamahaṃ khedaṃ na kariṣyāmi saṃmohaṃ , yena mayā evaṃvidhaṃ pāpakaṃ karma kṛtam? tataḥ sa tayābhihitah--na te manaḥśūkaṃsdminnarthe utpādayitavyam/

[158.031]. yenaivaṃ hi yathā pitā gacchati, putro'pi tenaiva gacchati/
[158.032]. na cāsau panthā putrasyānugacchato doṣakārako [159] bhavati, evameva mātṛgrāmaḥ/

[159.001]. yatraiva hi tīrye pitā snāti, putro'pi tasmin snāti, na ca tīryaṃ putrasya snāyato doṣakārakaṃ bhavati/

[159.002]. api ca pratyanteṣu janapadeṣu dharmataivaiṣā yasyāmeva pitā asaddharmeṇābhigacchati, tāmeva putro'pyadhigacchati/
[159.004]. evamasau vaṇigdārako mātrā bahuvidhairanunayavacanairvinītaśokastayā mātrā tasmin pātake'saddharme punaḥ punaratīva saṃjātarāgaḥ pravṛttaḥ/
[159.005]. tena ca śreṣṭhinā gṛhe lekhyo'nupreṣitaḥ/
[159.005]. bhadre, dhīrorjitamahotsāhā bhavasva/
[159.006]. ahamapi lekhānupadamevāgamiṣye/
[159.006]. vaṇikpatnī tathāvidhaṃ lekhārthaṃ śrutvā vaimanasyajātā cintayituṃ pravṛttā--mahāntaṃ kālaṃ mama tasyāgamanamudīkṣamāṇāyāḥ/

[159.008]. idānīṃ mayā evaṃvidhenopakrameṇa putraṃ ca paricaritvā sa cāgamiṣyati/
[159.008]. ka upāyaḥ syāt yadahaṃ tamihāsamprāptameva jīvitāt vyaparopayeyam? iti saṃcintya taṃ putramāhūya kathayati--pitrā te lekhyo'nupreṣitah āgamiṣyatīti/
[159.010]. jājase'smābhiridānīṃ kiṃ karaṇīyamiti? gacchasva, pitaramasamprāptameva ghātaya/
[159.011]. sa kathayati--kathamahaṃ pitaraṃ ghātayiṣye? yadā asau na prasahate pitṛvadhaṃ kartum, tadā tayā mātrā bhūyo'nuvṛttivacanairabhihitah--tasyānuvṛttivacanairucyamānasya kāmeṣu saṃraktasyādhyavasāyo jātaḥ pitṛvadhaṃ prati/
[159.013]. kāmān khalu pratisevato na hi kiṃcit pāpakaṃ karmākaraṇīyamiti vadāmi/
[159.014]. tatastenoktam--kenopāyena ghātayāmi? tayā abhihitam--ahamevopāyaṃ saṃvidhāsye/
[159.015]. ityuktvā viṣamādāya samitāyāṃ miśrayitvā maṇḍilakān paktvā anye'pi ca nirviṣāḥ paktāḥ/

[159.017]. amī saviṣā maṇḍilakā nirviṣāśca/
[159.017]. gṛhya pitṛsakāśaṃ gatvā ca tasya viśvastasyaikatra bhuñjata etān saviṣān maṇḍilakān prayacchasva, ātmanā ca nirviṣān bhakṣaya/
[159.018]. tataḥ sa dārakastena lekhavāhikamanuṣyeṇa sārdhaṃ tān maṇḍilakān gṛhya gataḥ pitṛsakāśam/
[159.019]. āgamya pitā asya atīva taṃ putraṃ dṛṣṭvā abhirūpaprāsādikaṃ maheśākhyaṃ prāmodyaṃ prāptaḥ/
[159.020]. sahyāsahyaṃ pṛṣṭvā teṣāṃ teṣāṃ vaṇijāmākhyāti--ayaṃ bhavanto'smākaṃ putraḥ/
[159.021]. yadā tena dārakeṇa saṃlakṣitaṃ sarvatra ahamanena pitrā pratisaṃvedita iti, tatastaṃ pitaramāha--tāta, ambayā maṇḍilakāḥ praheṇakamanupreṣitam/

[159.023]. paścāttena pitrā sārdhamekaphalāyāṃ bhuñjatā tasya pituḥ saviṣā maṇḍilakā dattāḥ, ātmanā nirviṣāḥ prabhakṣitāḥ/
[159.024]. yato'sya pitā tān saviṣān maṇḍilakān bhakṣayitvā bhṛtaḥ/
[159.025]. tasya ca pituḥ kāladharmaṇā yuktasya ca dārako na kenacit pāpakaṃ karma kurvāṇo'bhiśaṅkito pratisaṃvedito /
[159.026]. paścāttairiṣṭasnigdhasuhṛdbhirvaṇigbhiḥ śocayitvā yattattu kiṃcittasya vaṇijo bhaṇḍamāsīddhiraṇyasuvarṇaṃ , tattasya dārakasya dattam/
[159.028]. sa dārakastaṃ bhāṇḍaṃ hiraṇyasuvarṇaṃ paitṛkaṃ gṛhya svagṛhamanuprāptaḥ/
[159.029]. tasya ca gatasya svagṛhaṃ mātā pracchannāsaddharmeṇa taṃ putraṃ paricaramāṇā ratiṃ nādhigacchati, anabhiratarūpā ca taṃ putraṃ vadati--kiyatkālaṃ vayamevaṃ pracchannena krameṇa ratikrīḍāmanubhaviṣyāmah? yannu vayamasmāddeśādanyadeśāntaraṃ gatvā prakāśakrameṇa niḥśaṅkā bhūtvā jāyāpatīti vikhyātadharmāṇaḥ sukhaṃ prativasema/
[159.032]. tatastau gṛhaṃ tyaktvā [160] mitrasvajanasambandhivargānapahāya purāṇadāsīdāsakarmakarāṃstyaktvā yāvadarthajātaṃ hiraṇyasuvarṇaṃ ca gṛhya anyaviṣayāntaraṃ gatau/

[160.002]. tatra gatvā janapadeṣu vikhyāpayamānau jāyāpatikamiti ratikrīḍāmanubhavamānau vyavasthitau/
[160.003]. yāvadarhan bhikṣuḥ kenacit kālāntareṇa janapadacārikāṃ caraṃs tamadhiṣṭhānamanuprāptaḥ/
[160.004]. tena tatra piṇḍapātamanvāhiṇḍatā vīthyāṃ niṣadya ayaṃ vaṇigdharmaṇā saṃvyavahāramāṇaḥ sa dārako dṛṣṭaḥ/
[160.005]. dṛṣṭvā cārogyayitvā cābhibhāṣyoktah--mātuste kuśalam? sa ca dārakastamarhantaṃ tathā abhivadamānamupaśrutya saṃbhinnacetāḥ svena duścaritena karmaṇā śaṅkitamanāścintayituṃ pravṛttaḥ/
[160.007]. sa vicintya mātṛsakāśaṃ gatvā saṃvedayati--yatirabhyāgataḥ, yo'sau asmadgṛhamupasaṃkrāmati, eṣa sa ihādhiṣṭhāne pratisaṃvedayiṣyati eṣā asya dārakasya māteti/
[160.009]. vayaṃ cehaṃ jāyāpatikamiti khyātau/
[160.009]. kathameṣa śakyaṃ ghātayitum? tatastayoḥ saṃcintya taṃ gṛhamenamupanimantrayitvā bhuñjānaṃ ghātayāmaḥ/
[160.010]. tatastayorevaṃ saṃcintya so'rhan bhikṣurantargṛhamupanimantrayitvā bhojayitumārabdhaḥ/
[160.011]. sa dārako gūḍhaśastro bhūtvā arhantaṃ bhojayituṃ mātrā saha nirjanaṃ gṛhaṃ kṛtvā sa cārhadbhikṣubhuktvā tasmādgṛhādviśrabdhacārakrameṇa pratinirgataḥ/

[160.014]. kāmāśca lavaṇodakasadṛśāḥ/

[160.017]. tatastena tasya māturuktam--amba nivartasvedṛśāddoṣāt/
[160.018]. ca tasmiñ śreṣṭhiputre saṃraktacittā dvirapi trirapyucyamānā na nirvartate/

[160.019]. yadā tasya trīṇyānantaryāṇi paripūrṇāni, tadā devatābhirjanapadeṣvārocitam--pāpa eṣa pitṛghātako'rhaddhātako mātṛghātakaśca/
[160.021]. trīṇyanenānantaryāṇi narakakarmasaṃvartanīyāni karmāṇi kṛtānyupacitāni/
[160.021]. tatastenādhiṣṭhānajanena tacchrutvā tadadhiṣṭhānānnirvāsitaḥ/
[160.022]. sa yadā nirvāsitastasmādadhiṣṭhānāt tadā cintayituṃ pravṛttah--asti cāsya buddhaśāsane kaścidevānunayah? evaṃ manasi kṛtam--gacchāmi, idānīṃ pravrajāmīti/
[160.024]. sa ca vihāraṃ gatvā bhikṣusakāśamupasaṃkramya evaṃ kathayati--ārya, pravrajeyam/
[160.025]. tatastena bhikṣuṇā uktam-- tāvat pitṛghātako'si? tena bhikṣurabhihitah--asti mayā ghātitaḥ pitā/
[160.026]. tataḥ punaḥ pṛṣṭah-- tāvanmātṛghātako'si? tenoktam--ārya, ghātitā mayā mātā/
[160.027]. sa bhūyaḥ pṛṣṭah-- tāvadarhadvadhaste kṛtah? tataḥ sa kathayati--arhannapi ghātitaḥ/
[160.028]. tatastena bhikṣuṇā abhihitah--ekaikena eṣāṃ karmāṇāmācaraṇānna pravrajyārho bhavasi, prāgeva samastānām/
[160.029]. gaccha vatsa, nāhaṃ pravrājayiṣye/
[160.030]. tataḥ sa puruṣo'nyasya bhikṣoḥ sakāśamupasaṃkramya kathayati--ārya pravrajeyam/
[160.031]. tatastenāpi bhikṣuṇā anupūrveṇa pṛṣṭvā pratyākhyātaḥ/
[160.031]. tataḥ paścādanyasya bhikṣoḥ sakāśaṃ gataḥ/
[160.032]. tamapi tathaiva pravrajyāmāyācate/
[160.032]. tenāpi tathā anupūrvakrameṇa pṛṣṭvā pratyākhyātaḥ/
[160.032]. sa yadā [161] dvirapi trirapi pravrajyāmāyācamāno'pi bhikṣubhir na pravrājitaḥ, tadā amarṣajātaścintayituṃ pravṛttah-- api sarvasādhāraṇā pravrajyā, tāmahamapyāyācanna labhāmi/

[161.002]. tatastena tasmin vihāre śayitānāṃ bhikṣūṇāmagnirdattaḥ/
[161.003]. tasmin vihāre'gniṃ datvā anyatra vihāraṃ gataḥ/
[161.003]. tatrāpi gatvā bhikṣūṇāmupasaṃkramya pravrajyāmāyācate/
[161.004]. tairapi tathaivānupūrveṇa pṛṣṭvā pratyākhyātaḥ/
[161.004]. tatrāpi tena tathaiva pratihatacetasā agnirdattaḥ/
[161.005]. tatrāpi vihāre bahavo bhikṣavaḥ śaikṣāśaikṣāśca dagdhāḥ/
[161.006]. evaṃ tasyānekān vihārān dahataḥ sarvatra śabdo visṛtah--evaṃvidhaścaivaṃvidhaśca pāpakarmakārī puruṣo bhikṣubhyaḥ pravrajyāmalabhan vihārān bhikṣūṃśca dahatīti/
[161.007]. sa ca puruṣo'nyavihāraṃ prasthitaḥ/
[161.008]. tatra ca vihāre bodhisattvajātīyo bhikṣuḥ prativasati tṛpitaḥ/
[161.008]. tena śrutaṃ sa evaṃ duṣkarakarmakārī puruṣa ihāgacchatīti/
[161.009]. yataḥ sa bhikṣustasya puruṣasyāsamprāptasyaiva tasmin vihāre pratyudgataḥ/
[161.010]. sa taṃ puruṣaṃ sametya kathayati--bhadramukha, kimetat? yato'sya puruṣeṇoktam--ārya, pravrajyāṃ na labhāmi/
[161.011]. tatastena bhikṣuṇām uktam--āgaccha vatsa, ahaṃ te pravrājayāmīti/
[161.012]. paścāt tena bhikṣuṇā tasya puruṣasya śiro muṇḍāpayitvā kāṣāyāṇi vastrāṇi dattāni/
[161.013]. paścāt sa puruṣaḥ kathayati--ārya, śikṣāpadāni me'nuprayaccha/
[161.013]. tatastena bhikṣuṇā uktah--kiṃ te śikṣāpadaiḥ prayojanam? evaṃ sarvakālaṃ vadasva--namo buddhāya, namo dharmāya, namaḥ saṃghāyeti/
[161.015]. paścāt sa bhikṣustasya puruṣasya dharmadeśanāmārabdhaḥ kartum--tvamevaṃvidhaścaivaṃvidhaśca pāpakarmakārī sattvo yadi kadācidbuddhaśabdaṃ śṛṇoṣi, smṛtiṃ pratilabhethāḥ/
[161.016]. athāsau tripiṭo bhikṣuścyutaḥ kālagato deveṣupapannaḥ/
[161.017]. sa cāpi puruṣaścyutaḥ kālagato narakeṣūpapannaḥ//
[161.018]. yato bhagavānāha--kiṃ manyadhve bhikṣavah? yo'sau atīte'dhvani bhikṣus tripiṭah āsa, ahameva sa tena kālena tena samayena/
[161.019]. yo'sau pāpakarmakārī sattvo mātāpitrarhaddhātakaḥ, eṣa eva dharmaruciḥ/
[161.020]. idaṃ mama tṛtīye'saṃkhyeye'sya dharmarucerdarśanam/
[161.020]. tadahaṃ saṃdhāya kathayāmi--cirasya dharmaruce, sucirasya dharmaruce, suciracirasya dharmaruce/
[161.021]. yāvacca mayā bhikṣavastribhirasaṃkhyeyaiḥ ṣaḍbhiḥ pāramitābhiranyaiśca duṣkaraśatasahasrairanuttarā samyaksambodhiḥ samudānītā, tāvadanena dharmarucinā yadbhūyasā narakatiryakṣu kṣipitam//
[161.024]. idamavocadbhagavān/ āttamanasaste bhikṣavo bhagavato bhāṣitamabhyanandan//
