tasyāpyaliṅgaṃ pradhānaṃ sūkṣmo viṣayaḥ | saptānāmapi prakṛtīnāṃ pradhāna eva sūkṣmatāviśrāntestatparyantameva sūkṣmaviṣayatvamuktam | yadyapi pradhānādapi puruṣaḥ sūkṣmo'sti tathāpyanvayikāraṇatvābhāvāttasya sarvānvayikāraṇe pradhāna eva niratiśayaṃ saukṣmyaṃ vyākhyātam | puruṣastu nimittakāraṇaṃ sadapi nānanvayikāraṇatvena sūkṣmatāmarhati | anvayikāraṇatvavivakṣāyāṃ tu puruṣo'pi sūkṣmo bhavatyeveti draṣṭavyam | eva sabījaḥ samādhiḥ [YogaS 1.46] tāścatasraḥ samāpattayo grāhyeṇa bījena saha

tatrāntimasya phalamucyate nirvicāravaiśāradye'dhyātmaprasādaḥ [YogaS 1.47] sthūlaviṣayatve tulye'pi savitarkaṃ śabdārthajñānavikalpasaṅkīrṇamapekṣya tadrahitasya nirvikalpakarūpasya nirvitarkasya prādhānyam | tataḥ sūkṣmaviṣayasya savikalpakapratibhāsarūpasya savicārasya | tato'pi sūkṣmaviṣayasya nirvikalpakapratibhāsarūpasya nirvicārasya prādhānyam | tatra pūrveṣāṃ trayāṇāṃ nirvicārārthatvānnirvicāraphalenaiva phalavattvam | nirvicārasya tu prakṛṣṭābhyāsabalādvaiśāradye rajastamonabhibhūtasattvodreke satyadhyātmaprasādaḥ kleśavāsanārahitasya cittasya bhūtārthaviṣayaḥ kramānanurodhī sphuṭaḥ prajñālokaḥ prādurbhavati

ṛtaṃbharā tatra prajñā [YogaS 1.48] tatra tasmin prajñāprasāde sati samāhitacittasya yogino prajñā jāyate ṛtambharā | ṛtaṃ satyameva bibharti na tatra viparyāsagandho'pyastīti yogikyeveyaṃ samākhyā | cottamo yogaḥ | tathā ca bhāṣyam

āgamenānumānena dhyānābhyāsarasena ca |
tridhā prakalpayan prajñāṃ labhate yogamuttamam || iti |

tu śrutānumānaprajñābhyāmanyaviṣayā viśeṣārthatvāt[YogaS 1.49] | śrutamāgamavijñānānaṃ tatsāmānyaviṣayameva | na hi viśeṣeṇa saha kasyacicchabdasya saṅgatirgrahītuṃ śakyate | tathānumānaṃ sāmānyaviṣayameva | na hi viśeṣeṇa saha kasyacidvyāptirgrahītuṃ śakyate | tasmācchrutānumānaviṣayo na viśeṣaḥ kaścidasti | na cāsya sūkṣmavyavahitaviprakṛṣṭasya vastuno lokapratyakṣeṇa grahaṇamasti | kiṃ tu samādhiprajñānirgrāhya eva sa viśeṣo bhavati bhūtasūkṣmagato puruṣagato | tasmānnirvicāravaiśāradyasamudbhavāyāṃ śrutānumānavilakṣaṇāyāṃ

nanu kṣiptamūḍhavikṣiptākhyavyutthānasaṃskārāṇāmekāgratāyāmapi savitarkanirvitarkasavicārajanānāṃ saṃskārāṇāṃ sadbhāvāttaiścālyamānasya cittasya kathaṃ nirvicāravaiśāradyapūrvakādhyātmaprasādalabhyartambharā prajñā pratiṣṭhitā syādata āha tajjaḥ saṃskāro'nyasaṃskārapratibandhī [YogaS 1.50] tayā ṛtambharayā prajñayā janito yaḥ saṃskāraḥ sa tattvaviṣayayā prajñayā janitatvena balavattvādanyān vyutthānajān samādhijāṃśca saṃskārānatattvaviṣayaprajñājanitatvena durbalān pratibadhnāti svakāryākṣamān karoti nāśyatīti | teṣāṃ saṃskārāṇāmabhibhavāt

tasya ca saṃskārasya prayojanamuktam tataḥ praśāntavāhitā saṃskārāt[YogaS 3.10] iti | praśāntavāhitā nāmāvṛttikasya cittasya nirindhanāgnivatpratilomapariṇāmenopaśamaḥ | yathā samidājyādyāhutiprakṣepe vahniruttarottaravṛddhyā prajvalati, samidādikṣaye tu prathamakṣaṇe kiṃcicchāmyati | uttarottarakṣaṇeṣu tvadhikamadhikaṃ śāmyatīti krameṇa śāntirvardhate | tathā niruddhacittasyottarottarādhikaḥ praśamaḥ pravahati | tatra pūrvapraśamajanitaḥ saṃskāra evottarottarapraśamasya kāraṇam | tadā ca nirindhanāgnivaccittaṃ krameṇopaśāmyadvyutthānasamādhinirodhasaṃskāraiḥ saha svasyāṃ prakṛtau līyate | tadā ca

taduktaṃ tadā draṣṭuḥ svarūpe'vasthānam [YogaS 1.3] iti | tadā sarvavṛttinirodhe | vṛttidaśāyāṃ tu nityāpariṇāmicaitanyarūpatvena tasya sarvadāṃ śuddhatve'pyanādinā dṛśyasaṃyogenāvidyakenāntaḥkaraṇatādātmyādhyāsādantaḥkaraṇavṛttisārūpyaṃ prāpnuvannabhoktāpi bhokteva duḥkhānāṃ bhavati |

taduktaṃ vṛttisārūpyamitaratra [YogaS 4] | itaratra vṛttiprādurbhāve | etadeva vivṛttaṃ draṣṭṛdṛśyoparaktaṃ cittaṃ sarvārtham [YogaS 4.23] cittameva draṣṭṛdṛśyoparaktaṃ viṣayiviṣayanirbhāsaṃ cetanācetanasvarūpāpannaṃ viṣayātmakamapyaviṣayātmakamivācetanamapi cetanamiva sphaṭikamaṇikalpaṃ sarvārthamityucyate | tadanena cittasārūpyeṇa bhrāntāḥ kecittadeva cetanamityāhuḥ | tadasaṃkhyeyavāsanācitramapi parārthaṃ saṃhatyakāritvāt[YogaS 4.24] | yasya bhogāpavargārthaṃ tatsa eva paraścetano'saṃhataḥ puruṣo na tu ghaṭādivatsaṃhatyakāri

sattvapuruṣayorviśeṣadarśanaṃ ca bhagavadarpitaniṣkāmakarmasādhyam | talliṅgaṃ ca yogabhāṣye darśitam | yathā prāvṛṣi tṛṇāṅkurasyodbhedena tadbījasattānumīyate thatā mokṣamārgaśravaṇena siddhāntarucivaśādyasya lomaharṣāśrupātau dṛśyete tatrāpyasti viśeṣadarśanabījamapavargamārgīyaṃ karmābhinirvartitamityanumīyate | yasya tu tādṛśaṃ karmabījaṃ nāsti tasya mokṣamārgaśravaṇe pūrvapakṣayuktiṣu rucirbhavatyaruciśca siddhāntayuktiṣu | tasya ko'hamāsaṃ kathamahamāsamityādirātmabhāvabhāvanā svābhāvikī pravartate | tu viśeṣadarśino nivartata iti |

evaṃ sati kiṃ syāditi tadāha tadā vivekanimnaṃ kaivalyaprāgbhāraṃ cittam [YogaS 4.26] | nimnaṃ jalapravahaṇayogyo nīcadeśaḥ | prāgbhārastadayogya uccapradeśaḥ | cittaṃ ca sarvadā pravartamānavṛttipravāheṇa pravahajjalatulyaṃ tatprāgātmānātmāvivekarūpavimārgavāhiviṣayabhogaparyantamasyāsīt | adhunā tvātmānātmavivekamārgavāhikaivalyaparyantaṃ sampadyata iti | asmiṃśca vivekavāhini citte ye'ntarāyāste sahetukā nivartanīyā ityāha sūtrābhyām tacchidreṣu pratyayāntarāṇi saṃskārebhyaḥ | hānameṣāṃ kleśavaduktam [YogaS 4.27-8] | tasmin vivekavāhini citte chidreṣvantarāleṣu pratyayāntarāṇi vyutthānarūpāṇy
ahaṃ mametyevaṃrūpāṇi vyutthānānubhavajebhyaḥ saṃskārebhyaḥ kṣīyamāṇbhyo'pi prādurbhavanti | eṣāṃ ca saṃskārāṇāṃ kleśānāmiva hānamuktam | yathā kleśā avidyādayo jñānāgninā dagdhabījabhāvā ca punaścittabhūmau prarohaṃ prāpnuvanti tathā jñānāgninā dagdhabījabhāvāḥ saṃskārāḥ pratyayāntarāṇi na praroḍhumarhanti | jñānāgnisaṃskārāstu yāvaccittamanuśerata iti |

evaṃ ca pratyayāntarānudayena vivekavāhini citte sthirībhūte sati prasaṃkhyāne'pyakusīdasya sarvathāvivekakhyāterdharmameghaḥ samādhiḥ [YogaS 4.29] prasaṅkhyānaṃ sattvapuruṣānyatākhyātiḥ śuddhātmajñānamiti yāvat | tatra buddheḥ sāttvike pariṇāme kṛtasaṃyamasya sarveṣāṃ guṇapariṇāmānāṃ svāmivadākramaṇaṃ sarvādhiṣṭhātṛtvaṃ teṣāmeva ca śāntoditāvyapadeśyadharmitvena sthitānāṃ yathāvadvivekajñānaṃ sarvajñātṛtvaṃ ca viśokā nāma siddhiḥ phalaṃ tadvairāgyācca kaivalyamuktaṃ sattvapuruṣānyatākhyātimātrasya sarvabhāvādhiṣṭhātṛtvaṃ
sarvajñātṛtvaṃ ca [YogaS 3.49] sattvapuruṣayoḥ śuddhisāmye kaivalyam [YogaS 3.55] iti sūtrābhyām | tadetaducyate tasmin prasaṅkhyāne satyapyakusīdasya phalamalipsoḥ pratyayāntarāṇāmanudaye sarvaprakārairvivekakhyāteḥ paripoṣāddharmameghaḥ samādhirbhavati |

ijyācāradamāhiṃsādānasvādhyāyakarmaṇām |
ayaṃ tu paramo dharmo yadyogenātmadarśanam || iti smṛteḥ ||

dharmaṃ pratyagbrahmaikyasākṣātkāraṃ mehati siñcatīti dharmameghastattvasākṣātkāraheturityarthaḥ | tataḥ kleśakarmanivṛttiḥ | tato dharmameghātsamādherdharmādvā kleśānāṃ pañcavidhānāmavidyāsmitārāgadveṣābhiniveśānāṃ karmaṇāṃ ca kṛṣṇaśuklakṛṣṇaśuklabhedena trividhānāmavidyāmūlānāmavidyākṣaye bījakṣayādātyantikī nivṛttiḥ kaivalyaṃ bhavati | kāraṇanivṛttyā kāryanivṛtterātyantikyā ucitatvādityarthaḥ |

evaṃ sthite yuñjanneva sadātmānamityanena samprajñātaḥ samādhirekāgrabhūmāvuktaḥ | niyatamānasa ityanena tatphalabhūto'samprajñātasamādhirnirodhabhūmāvuktaḥ | śāntimiti nirodhasamādhijasaṃskāraphalabhūtā praśāntavāhitā | nirvāṇaparamamiti dharmameghasya samādhestattvajñānadvārā kaivalyahetutvaṃ, matsaṃsthāmityanenaupaniṣadābhimataṃ kaivalyaṃ darśitam | yasmādevaṃ mahāphalo yogastasmāttaṃ mahatā prayatnena sampādayedityabhiprāyaḥ ||15||

ātmānaṃ mano yuñjan dhyānayogayuktaṃ kurvan | yato niyatamānaso viṣayoparatacittaḥ | nirvāṇo mokṣa eva paramaḥ prāpyo yasyāṃ mayyeva nirviśeṣabrahmaṇi samyaksthā sthitiryasyāṃ tāṃ śāntiṃ saṃsāroparatiṃ prāpnoti ||15||

evamāsīnasya kiṃ syāttadāha yuñjanniti | yogī sadā pratidinamātmānaṃ yuñjannarpayan | niyatamānasaḥ matsparśapariśuddhatayā niyataṃ niścalaṃ mānasaṃ cittaṃ yasya sa, matsaṃsthāṃ madadhīnāṃ nirvāṇaparamāṃ śāntimadhigacchati labhate | tameva viditvātimṛtyumeti [ŚvetU 3.8] ityādi śravaṇāt | nirvāṇaparamāṃ mokṣāvadhikāmiti siddhayo'pi yogaphalānītyuktam ||15||
