mayyāsaktamanāḥ pārtha yogaṃ yuñjanmadāśrayaḥ |
asaṃśayaṃ samagraṃ māṃ yathā jñāsyasi tacchṛṇu ||1||

bhajanīyamathedānīmaiśvaraṃ rūpamīryate ||
pūrvādhyāyānte madgatenāntarātmanā yo māṃ bhajate sa me yuktatamo mataḥ ityuktam | atra kīdṛśastvaṃ yasya bhaktiḥ kartavyetyapekṣāyāṃ svasvarūpaṃ nirupayiṣyan śrībhagavānuvāca mayīti | mayi parameśvara āsaktamabhiniviṣṭaṃ mano yasya saḥ | madāśrayo'hamevāśrayo yasya | ananyaśaraṇaḥ san | yogaṃ yuñjannabhyasanasaṃśayaṃ yathā bhavatyevam | māṃ samagraṃ vibhūtibalaiśvaryādisahitaṃ yathā jñāsyasi tadidaṃ mayā vakṣyamāṇaṃ śṛṇu ||1||

prathamenādhyāyaṣaṭkenāntaḥkaraṇaśuddhyarthakaniṣkāmakarmasāpekṣau mokṣaphalasādhakau jñānayogāvuktau | idānīmanena dvitīyādhyāyaṣaṭkena karmajñānādivimiśraśravaṇānniṣkāmatvasakāmatvābhyāṃ ca sālokyādisādhakastathā sarvamukhyaḥ karmajñānādinirapekṣa eva premavatpārṣadatvalakṣaṇamuktiphalasādhakastathā yatkarmabhiryattapasā jñānavairāgyataśca yatityādau, sarvaṃ madbhaktiyogena madbhakto labhate'ñjasā, svargāpavargaṃ maddhāma [BhP 1.20.32-33] ityādyuktervināpi sādhanānantaraṃ svargāpavargādinikhilasādhakaśca paramaḥ svatantraḥ sarvasukaro'pi sarvaduṣkaraḥ
śrīmadbhaktiyoga ucyate |
nanu tameva viditvā atimṛtyumeti [ŚvetU 6.15] iti śruteḥ | jñānaṃ vinā kevalayā bhaktyaiva kathaṃ mokṣaḥ brūṣe ? maivaṃ, tvameva tatpadārthaṃ paramātmānameva viditvā sākṣādanubhūya, na tu tvaṃpadārthaṃ ātmānaṃ nāpi prakṛtiṃ nāpi vastumātraṃ viditvā mṛtyumatyeti ityasyāḥ śruterarthaḥ | tatra sitaśarkarārasagrahaṇe yathā rasanaiva kāraṇaṃ na tu cakṣuḥśrotrādikaṃ tathaiva guṇātītasya brahmaṇe grahaṇaṃ sambhavet, na tu dehādyatiriktātmajñānena sāttvikena | bhaktyāhamekayā grāhyaḥ [BhP 11.14.11] iti bhagavadukteriti | bhaktyā māmabhijānāti yāvān yaścāsmi tattvataḥ
[Gītā 18.55] ityatra saviśeṣaṃ pratipādayiṣyāmaḥ | jñānayogayormuktisādhanatvaprasiddhistu tatrasthaguṇībhūtabhaktiprabhāvādeva | tayā vinā tayorakiñcitkaratvasya bahuśaḥ śravaṇāt |
kiṃ ca, asyāṃ śrutau viditvā ityanantaramevakārasyāprayogādeva | yogavyavacchedābhāve jñāpite sati, tasmādeva paramātmano viditātkvacidaviditādapi mokṣa ityartho labhyate | tataśca bhaktyutthena nirguṇena paramātmajñānena mokṣaḥ | kvacittu bhaktyutthaṃ tajjñānaṃ vināpi kevalena bhaktimātreṇa mokṣa ityarthaḥ paryavasyati | yathā matsyaṇḍikāpiṇḍādrasanādoṣeṇālabdhasvādādapi bhuktāttadekanāśyo vyādhirnaśyatyevātra na sandehaḥ | matsyaṇḍikāni te khaṇḍavikārā śarkarāsite ityamaraḥ | śrīmaduddhavenoktam
nanvīśvaro'nubhajato'viduṣo'pi sākṣāc

ekādaśe'pyuktaṃ yatkarmabhiryattapasā jñānavairāgyataśca yatityādau sarvaṃ madbhaktiyogena madbhakto labhate'ñjasā [BhP 11.20.31-32] iti | ataeva yannāmasakṛcchravaṇātpukkaso'pi vimucyate saṃsārātityādau bahuśo vākyairbhaktyaiva mokṣaḥ pratipādyata iti |
yogināmapi sarveṣāṃ madgatenāntarātmanā |
śraddhāvān bhajate yo māṃ sa me yuktatamo mataḥ || [Gītā 6.47]
iti tvadvākyena tvanmanaskatve sati tvajjanaviṣayakaśraddhāvattvamiti tvayā svabhaktaviśeṣalakṣaṇameva kṛtamityavagamyate | kintu sa ca kīdṛśo bhaktastadīyajñānavijñānayoradhikārī bhavatītyapekṣāyāmāha mayyāsakteti dvābhyām | yadyapi
bhaktiḥ pareśānubhavo viraktir
anyatra caiṣa trika ekakālaḥ |
prapadyamānasya yathāśnataḥ syus
tuṣṭiḥ puṣṭiḥ kṣudapāyo'nughāsam || [BhP 11.2.42]
ityukterbhajanprakramata eva madanubhavakramo'pi bhavati, tadapyekagrāsamātrabhojinastathā tuṣṭipuṣṭī na spaṣṭe bhavataḥ, kintu bahutaragrāsabhojina eva | tathaiva mayi śyāmasundare pītāmbare āsaktamāsaktibhūmikārūḍhaṃ mano yasya tathābhūta eva tvaṃ māṃ jñāsyasi | yathā spaṣṭamanubhaviṣyasi, tatśṛṇu kīdṛśaṃ yogaṃ mayā saha saṃyogaṃ yuñjan śanaiḥ śanaiḥ prāpnuvanmadāśrayaḥ | māmeva, na tu jñānakarmādikamāśrayamāṇo'nanyabhakta ityarthaḥ |
atrāsaṃśayaṃ samagramiti padābhyāṃ madīyanirviśeṣabrahmasvarūpajñānaṃ
kleśo'dhikatarasteṣāmavyaktāsaktacetasām |
avyaktā hi gatirduḥkhaṃ dehavadbhiravāpyate || [Gītā 12.5]
ityagrimokteḥ sasaṃśayameva | tathā jñānināmupāsyaṃ yadbrahma paramamahato mama mahimasvarūpameva | yaduktaṃ mayaiva satyavrataṃ prati matsyarūpeṇa
madīyaṃ mahimānaṃ ca paraṃ brahmeti śabditam |
vetsyasyanugṛhītaṃ me sampraśnairvivṛtaṃ hṛdi || [BhP 8.24.38] iti |
atrāpi brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāham [Gītā 14.27] iti | ato majjñānamasamagramiti dyotitam ||1||

saptame bhajanīyasya svasyaiśvaryaṃ prakīrtyate |
cāturvidhyaṃ ca bhajatāṃ tathaivābhajatāmapi ||
ādyena ṣaṭkenopāsakasya jīvasya svarūpaṃ tatprāptisādhanaṃ ca prādhānyenoktam | madhyena tūpāsyasya svasya tattacca tathocyate | tatra ṣaṣṭhāntanirdiṣṭaṃ tava bhajanīyaṃ rūpaṃ kīdṛśaṃ, kathaṃ vā bhajato'ntarātmā tadgataḥ syādityetatpārthenāpṛṣṭamapi kṛpālutvena svayameva vivakṣurbhagavānuvāca mayīti | vyākhyātalakṣaṇe svopāsye mayyāsaktamatimātranirataṃ mano yasya sa tvamanyo vā tādṛśo madāśrayo maddāsyasakhyādyekatamena bhāvena māṃ śaraṇaṃ gato yogaṃ maccharaṇādilakṣaṇaṃ yuñjan kartuṃ pravṛttaḥ | asaṃśayaṃ
yathā syāttathā | kṛṣṇa eva paraṃ tattvamato'nyadveti sandehaśūnyo matpāramyaniścayavānityarthaḥ | samagraṃ sādhiṣṭhānaṃ savibhūtiṃ saparikaraṃ ca māṃ sarveśvaraṃ yena jñānena jñāsyasi tanmayocyamānamavahitamanāḥ śṛṇu | he pārtha ! na ca samagramiti kārtsnyena sa jñānamādiśatīti vācyamanantasya tasya tathājñānāsambhavāt | smṛtiśca kārtsnyena nājo'pyabhidhātumīśaḥ iti |
