Chapter 293 - The story of a leader of the thieves

bhūtapūrvaṃ bhikṣavaḥ anyatamasmin karvaṭake iṣvastrācāryaḥ prativasati; tena sadṛśātkulātkalatramānītaṃ; sa tayā sārdhaṃ krīḍati ramate paricārayati; tasya krīḍato ramamāṇasya paricārayataḥ kālāntareṇa patnī āpannasatvā saṃvṛttā; aṣṭānāṃ navānāṃ māsānāmatyayātprasūtā; dārikā jātā; tasyāstrīṇi saptakānyekaviṃśatidivasān vistareṇa jātāyā jātimahaṃ kṛtvā kulasadṛśaṃ (i 215) nāmadheyaṃ vyavasthāpitaṃ; unnītā vardhitā mahatī saṃvṛttā; iṣvastrācāryaḥ saṃlakṣayati: iyaṃ dārikā na mayā kasyacidrūpeṇa dātavyā na śīlena nāpi dhanena; api tu yo matsakāśātpaṃcasu sthāneṣu kṛtāvī bhavati, tasyaiṣā mayā deyā iti; tasya ca sakāśāddvau māṇavau iṣvastraṃ śikṣitau; tatraikaḥ paṃcasu sthāneṣu kṛtāvī; dvitīyastu chedye kṛtāvī saṃvṛttaḥ; tasmai tena dārikā dattā; so'nyaḥ saṃjātāmarṣaḥ corāṇāṃ madhyaṃ praviṣṭaḥ, paṃcānāṃ coraśatānāṃ senāpatirjātaḥ; sa ekasmin pradeśe mārgaṃ badhvā avasthitaḥ; prathamastāṃ patnīṃ pariṇīya ratha āropya svagṛhaṃ saṃprasthitaḥ; yāvaccorabhayātsārthaḥ agrato gacchan sthitaḥ; sa kathayati: bhavanto gacchata; kiṃ tiṣṭhatha? iti; te kathayanti: corairmārgo baddhaḥ iti; sa kathayati: āryā gacchata; kiṃ kariṣyanti iti; sa saṃprasthitaḥ; sārthikāḥ kathayanti: bhavanto gacchatveṣaḥ; tiṣṭhāmastāvat; sthānametadvidyate yadayamātmānaṃ dārayiṣyati; patnīṃ ca hārayiṣyati iti; corā vṛkṣamadhiruhya digavalokanaṃ kurvanto'vasthitāḥ; tairasau rathābhirūḍho dṛṣṭaḥ; kathayanti: bhavantaḥ puruṣo rathābhirūḍhaḥ āgacchati iti; corasenāpatinā dūto'nupreṣitaḥ: nivartaya rathamiti; sa kathayati: bhavantaḥ śūrasya śūraparihāraṃ prayacchata iti; te kathayanti: vayamapi śūrāḥ iti; senāpatinā paṃca corāḥ preṣitāḥ; tena te praghātitāḥ; evaṃ viṃśatirāgatāḥ, te'pi praghātitāḥ; yāvatsarve praghātitāḥ; senāpatireko'vaśiṣṭaḥ; sa khaḍgamādāya agrataḥ sthitaḥ; sa śarān kṣeptumārabdhaḥ; sa khadgena chinatti; yāvattena paṃcaśatikastūṇīraḥ kṣiptaḥ; tena sarve khaḍgena chinnāḥ; ekaḥ śaro'vasthitaḥ; sa taṃ na muñcati; dārikā kathayati: muñca śaraṃ; kimarthaṃ tiṣṭhati? iti; sa kathayati: eṣa eva eko'vaśiṣṭaḥ, eṣa cenmuktaḥ, ahaṃ praghātitaḥ; tvaṃ cāpahṛtā iti; tataḥ dārikā vijṛmbhamāṇā veṇiṃ bandhumārabdhā; corasenāpatistasyāmavekṣamāṇāyāṃ nirīkṣitumārabdhaḥ; sa tena śareṇa marmaṇi tāḍitaḥ; sa mriyamāṇo gāthāṃ bhāṣate (i 216) (a 503 )
