This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

यथा बालो मनसा नगरस्य निर्माणं निर्मथनं च कुर्वन्नगरे निर्माणं मनस्कृतमकृतमेव लीलयानुभवति नोपादेयतया । सुखमकृत्रिममिदमिति पश्यति । नगरनिर्मथनं च मनस्कृतमकृतमिव पश्यन्दुःखमपि लीलयानुभवन्नपि न दुःखमिति पश्यति । एवमसौ परमार्थज्ञः कुर्वन्नपि न लिप्यते एवेति ॥ १८ ॥
