This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

अन्यच्च रघुकुलेन्दो । यदि नैते महान्तो मुनयो महर्षयश्च विप्राश्च राजानश्च ज्ञानकवचेनावगुण्ठितशरीरास्तत्कथमदुःखक्षमा अपि दुःखमयीं तमोवृत्तिपूर्वकं संसारकदर्थनामनुभवन्तः सततमेव मुदितमनसस्तिष्ठन्ति ॥ १८ ॥
