tayorvikṣayadhvaṃsakayorghṛtaṃ kṣīraṃ ca cikitsitaṃ syāt| tathā bastayo bṛṃhaṇāḥ śivāḥ-nirapāyāḥ| tathā, ābyāṅgādīni yacca vātajidannapānaṃ tacca syāt| sa yuktamadyasya puṃso madyottho vyādhirnopajāyate, yuktamadyatvāt| ataḥ-asmāddhetoḥ, asya-madyasya, saṃyogo vakṣyate| yaḥ kevalaṃ sukhāyaiva syāt| adhunā surāṃ sampannāmāha-

-surā, aśvinaṃ mahattejo-dīptaṃ, dadhāti| āśvinamityaśvinoridamityaṇ, "nastaddhite" iti ṭilope prāpte "inaṇyanapatye" iti prakṛtibhāvaḥ| ca surā sārasvataṃ balaṃ utsāhaṃ, endraṃ ca vīryaṃ-śakti, vaiṣṇavaṃ ca prabhāvaṃ-māhātmyaṃ, dadhāti| ca madanasyāstraṃpraharaṇaṃ, balabhadrasya puruṣāṛthaḥ-paraṃ prayojanam| ca sautrāmāṇyāṃ yajñe dvijāsye hutāśe ca hūyate| ca mahodadheḥ sarvauṣadhisampūrṇāddevadānavairviloḍyamānāt lakṣmyādibhiḥ sahotpannā| ca surā madaśaktimatyajantī bahubhirmadhvādibhirākāraiḥ sthitā| yāṃ surāṃ pītvā vilāsinyo mṛgalocanāḥ, yathārthaṃanvarthaṃ, nāma bibhrati vilāso vidyate yāsāmiti| pītvā kulavāmalocanā'pyuddhatamānasā satyanaṅgāliṅgitairaṅgairmunerapi cetaḥ kvāpi nayati| taraṅgabhaṅgākuṭilā, bhrukuṭistayā tarjanāni-praṇayakalahaviśeṣāḥ, tairmānityā mānasamekaṃ prasādya dvayorapi-strīpuṃsayoḥ, nirvṛtiṃ-saukhyaṃ, surā karoti| yāṃ surāmāsvādya narāḥ samare tṛṇamiva prāṇāṃstyajanti| kīdṛṣi yuddhe? yathecchaṃ bhaṭasya-śūrapuruṣasya, yā'vāptistayā parihṛṣṭo-muditaḥ, apsaraḥsaṅgho yasminnāhave tasmin| 20

yāṃsurāṃ, bahubhiḥ prakāraiḥ-āhārādimadhyāvasānalakṣaṇaiḥ, tathā yāṃ bahuvigrahāṃ-madhumādhavādibhiranekaśarīrāṃ, śīlayitvā'pi nityaṃ harṣasyātivegena tatpūrvamiva-tatprathamamiva,

sevate| yāṃ dṛṣṭvā upalabhyāsvādādinā, śokādibhirnābhibhūyate| yasyāḥ surāyā ṛte goṣṭhyādirna śobhate| yayā ca viyuktaḥ śocate| śocata iti naṅibhyastaṅ| cāprasannā-kaluṣā'pi prītyai, prasannāsvacchā satī, svarga eva syāt| yayā cāntaḥsthitayendramapi duḥsthitaṃ manyate| anirdeśyaṃ-abhaṇanīyaṃ sukhaṃ yasminnāsvāde sa tathāvidha āsvādo yasyāḥ saivam| kevalamātmanaiva vedyā| iti-pūrvoktena prakāreṇa, citrāsunānāvidhāsvavasthāsu, priyāṃvallabhāṃ, anukaroti-anuharati| priyāpakṣe narmāthaḥ-praṇayakalahārthaḥ| aprasannākupitā| prasannā-tyaktakopā| anirdeśyaḥ sukhāsvādaḥsukhopalambho, yasyā iti yojyam| evaṃ "yāṃ śīlayitvā" ityādiḥ sarvo'pi granthaḥ priyāyāmapi yojyaḥ| tathā, yat-yasmāt, surā priyā-iṣṭā, atipriyatāṃ-suṣṭhu vallabhatvaṃ, yāti| yatpriyasya-prakṛtatvātsurāpriyasya, viśeṣeṇa priyatāṃ yāti| surā prītiriti vāgiti puṣṭiriti ca devādibhiḥ stutā| pānapravṛttau satyāṃ yeṣāṃ pānādhikāro'sti dharmaśāstreṣvaniṣiddhatvāt tāṃ pūrvoktaguṇāṃ surāṃ vidhinā-vakṣyamāṇena (ślo. 75), pibet|
