tatkimārtādayastava na priyāḥ ? na, atyarthamiti viśeṣaṇādityāha udārā iti | eta ārtādayaḥ sakāmā api madbhaktāḥ sarve trayo'pyudārā evotkṛṣṭā eva pūrvajanmārjitānekasukṛtarāśitvāt | anyathā hi māṃ na bhajeyureva | ārtasya jijñāsorarthārthinaśca madvimukhasya kṣudradevatābhaktasyāpi bahulamupalambhāt | ato mama priyā eva te | na hi jñānavānajño kaścidapi bhakto mamāpriyo bhavati | kintu yasya yādṛśī mayi prītirmamāpi tatra tādṛśī prītiriti svabhāvasiddhametat | tatra sakāmānāṃ trayāṇāṃ kāmyamānamapi priyamahamapi priyaḥ | jñāninastu priyāntaraśūnyasyāhameva niratiśayaprītiviṣayaḥ | ataḥ so'pi mama niratiśayaprītiviṣaya iti
viśeṣaḥ | anyathā hi mama kṛtajñatā na syātkṛtaghnatā ca syāt | ataevātyarthamiti viśeṣaṇamupāttaṃ prāk | yathā hi yadeva vidyayā karoti śraddhayopaniṣadā tadeva vīryavattaraṃ bhavati ityatra tarabarthasya vivakṣitatvādvidyādivyātirekena kṛtamapi karma vīryavadbhavatyeva | tathātyarthaṃ jñānī bhakto mama priya ityukteryo jñānavyatirekeṇa bhaktaḥ so'pi priya iti paryavasyatyeva | atyarthamiti viśeṣaṇasya vivakṣitatvāt | uktaṃ hi ye yathā māṃ prapadyante tāṃstathaiva bhajāmyaham [Gītā 4.11] iti | ato māmātmatvena jñānavān jñānī | ātmaiva na matto bhinnaḥ tvahameva sa iti mama mataṃ niścayaḥ | tuśabdaḥ sakāmabhedadarśitritayāpekṣayā
niṣkāmatvabhedādarśitvaviśeṣadyotanārthaḥ | hi yasmāt | sa jñānī yuktātmā sadā mayi samāhitacittaḥ sanmāṃ bhagavantamanantamānandaghanamātmānamevānuttamāṃ sarvotkṛṣṭāṃ gatiṃ gantavyaṃ paramaṃ phalamāsthito'ṅgīkṛtavān, na tu madbhinnaṃ kimapi phalaṃ sa manyata ityarthaḥ ||18||

tarhi kimārtādyāstrayastava na priyāstatra na hi na hītyāha udārā iti | ye māṃ bhajante, mattaḥ kiṃcitkāmitaṃ mayāpi ditsitaṃ gṛhṇanti te bhaktavatsalāya mahyaṃ bahupradāyinaḥ priyā eveti bhāvaḥ | jñānī tvātmaiveti sa hi bhajannatha ca mattaḥ kimapi svargāpavargādikaṃ nākaṅkṣata iti | atastadadhīnasya mama sa ātmaiveti mama mataṃ matiḥ | yataḥ sa māṃ śyāmasundarākāramevānuttamāṃ sarvottamāṃ gatiṃ prāpyāsthitaḥ niścitavān | na tu mama nirviśeṣasvarūpabrahmanirvāṇamiti bhāvaḥ | evaṃ ca niṣkāmapradhānībhūtabhaktimān jñānī

nanvārtādayastava priyā na bhavanti maivamatyarthamiti viśeṣaṇādityāha udārā iti | sarva evaite ārtādaya udārā vadānyāḥ | udāro dātṛmahatorityamaraḥ | ye māṃ bhajanto mayā ditsitaṃ kiṃcitsvābhīṣṭaṃ matto gṛhṇanti te bhaktavātsalyaṃ mahyaṃ prayacchanto mama bahupradāḥ priyā eveti bhāvaḥ | jñānī tu mamātmaiveti matam | hi yasmātsa j¸iānī yuktātmā madarpitamanā matto'nyatkiṃcidapyanicchannatipriyeṇa mayā vinā lavamapi sthātumasamartho māmeva sarvottamāṃ matiṃ prāpyamāsthitaḥ niścitavānatastena tādṛśena vinā lavamapi sthātumasamarthasya mamātmaiva saḥ | na ca jñānijīvasya hariḥ
svenābhedamāheti vācyam | jñānabhajatvāsiddherbhajatāṃ cāturvidhyāsiddhermokṣe bhedavākyavyākopācca | tasmādatipriyatvādeva tatrātmetyuktirmamātmā bhadrasena itivat | ātmaiva mana eva matamityapare ||18||
