This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

यदि चायमारम्भो ब्रह्मण आपतितस्तदनेन तत्सदृशेनैव भवितव्यम् । यो यस्माज्जायते स तत्सदृशो भवति । यथा पुरुषः पुरुषात् । दीपाद्दीपः । सस्यात्सस्यम् । अतो निर्विकाराद् यदागतं निर्विकारेणैव तेन भवितव्यम् । अथेदं व्यतिरिक्तं चेदात्मनस्तन्निष्कलङ्कस्य कुत इयं कलङ्कापत्तिः ॥ ७ ॥
