This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

आकाश एव परमे प्रथमः प्रजेशो नित्यं स्वयं कचति शून्यतया समानः ।
स ह्यातिवाहिकवपुर्न तु भूतरूपी पृथ्व्यादि तेन न सदस्ति यदा न जातम् ॥ ५४ ॥

ākāśa eva parame prathamaḥ prajeśo nityaṃ svayaṃ kacati śūnyatayā samānaḥ |
sa hyātivāhikavapurna tu bhūtarūpī pṛthvyādi tena na sadasti yadā na jātam || 54 ||
