Chapter 75 - Cognizance of pratītyasamutpāda

atha bhagavān yathābhiramyaṃ mucilindasya nāgarājasya bhavane vihṛtya, yena bodhimūlaṃ tenopasaṅkrāntaḥ; upasaṅkramya prajñapta eva tṛṇasaṃstarake niṣaṇṇaḥ, paryaṅkamābhujya ṛjuṃ kāyaṃ praṇidhāya pratimukhaṃ smṛtimupasthāpya saptāhamekaparyaṅkenātināmayati, idamevaṃ dvādaśāṅgaṃ pratītyasamutpādamanulomapratilomaṃ vyavalokayan, yaduta asmin sati idaṃ bhavati; asyotpādādidamutpadyate; yadutāvidyāpratyayāḥ saṃskārāḥ; saṃskārapratyayaṃ vijñānam; vijñānapratyayaṃ nāmarūpam; nāmarūpapratyayaṃ ṣaḍāyatanam; ṣaḍāyatanapratyayaḥ sparśaḥ; sparśapratyayā vedanā; vedanāpratyayā tṛṣṇā; tṛṣṇāpratyayamupādānam; upādānapratyayo bhavaḥ; bhavapratyayā jātiḥ; jātipratyayā jarāmaraṇaśokaparidevaduḥkhadaurmanasyopāyāsā amī bhavanti; evamasya kevalasya mahato duḥkhaskandhasya samudayo bhavati; yaduta asminnasati idaṃ na bhavati; asya nirodhādidaṃ niruddhyate; yaduta avidyānirodhātsaṃskāranirodhaḥ; saṃskāranirodhādvijñānanirodhaḥ; vijñānanirodhānnāmarūpanirodhaḥ; nāmarūpanirodhātṣaḍāyatananirodhaḥ; ṣaḍāyatananirodhātsparśanirodhaḥ; sparśanirodhādvedanānirodhaḥ; vedanānirodhāttṛṣṇānirodhaḥ; tṛṣṇānirodhādupādānanirodhaḥ; upādānanirodhātbhavanirodhaḥ; bhavanirodhājjātinirodhaḥ; jātinirodhājjarāmaraṇaśokaparidevaduḥkhadaurmanasyopāyāsā niruddhyante; evamasya kevalasya mahataḥ duḥkhaskandhasya nirodho bhavati

yadā ime prādurbhavanti dharmā
ātāpino dhyāyato brāhmaṇasya |
athāsya kāṅkṣā vyapayānti sarvā
yadā prajānāti sahetudharmam ||
yadā ime prādurbhavanti dharmā

buddho hi saṃyojanavipramuktaḥ ||
atha bhagavata etadabhavat: adhigato me dharmo gambhīro gambhīrāvabhāso durdṛśo duravabodhaḥ; atarkyo'tarkyāvacaraḥ sūkṣmo nipuṇapaṇḍitavijñavedanīyaḥ; taṃ cedahaṃ pareṣāmārocayeyam; taṃ ca pare na vijānīyuḥ; sa mama syādvighātaḥ; syādbhramaḥ; cetaso'nudaya eva; yanvahamekākī araṇye pravaṇe dṛṣṭadharmasukhavihārayogamanuyukto vihareyamiti; tatra bhagavata alpotsukavihāratāyāṃ cittaṃ krāmati, na dharmadeśanāyām; atha brahmaṇaḥ sabhāpateretadabhavat; vinaśyati batāyaṃ lokaḥ; praṇaśyati batāyaṃ lokaḥ, yatredānīṃ kadācitkarhicittathāgatā arhantaḥ samyaksaṃbuddhā (129) loke utpadyante, tadyathā udumbarapuṣpam; tasya cādya bhagavata alpotsukavihāratāyāṃ cittaṃ krāmati, na dharmadeśanāyām; yanvahamenaṃ gatvā adhyeśayeyam; atha brahmā sabhāpatis, tadyathā balavān puruṣaḥ saṃmiñjitaṃ bāhuṃ prasārayet, prasāritaṃ saṃmiñjayet, evameva brahmā sabhāpatirbrahmaloke antarhitaḥ; sa bhagavataḥ purastātpratyasthāt; atha brahmā sabhāpatistasyāṃ velāyāṃ gāthāṃ bhāṣate
prādurbabhūva magadheṣu pūrvaṃ
dharmo hyaśuddhaḥ samalānubaddhaḥ |
apāvṛṇīṣva amṛtasya dvāraṃ
vadasva dharmaṃ virajonubaddham ||
bhagavānaha;
kṛcchreṇa me adhigato'khilo brahman pradālya vai |
bhavarāgaparīttairhi nāyaṃ dharmaḥ susaṃbuddhaḥ ||
pratisrotonugāminaṃ mārgaṃ gambhīramatidurdṛśam |
na drakṣyanti rāgāraktāstamaskandhena nīvṛtāḥ ||
