Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. निःशब्दे तु कृते तस्मिन्धृष्टद्युम्नो विशां पते ।
रङ्गमध्यगतस्तत्र मेघगम्भीरया गिरा ।
वाक्यमुच्चैर्जगादेदं श्लक्ष्णमर्थवदुत्तमम् ॥ ३३ ॥

niḥśabde tu kṛte tasmindhṛṣṭadyumno viśāṃ pate |
raṅgamadhyagatastatra meghagambhīrayā girā |
vākyamuccairjagādedaṃ ślakṣṇamarthavaduttamam || 33 ||
