iti nyāyena pratikṣaṇapariṇamasvabhāvatvāccittasya prārabdhabhogena ca karmaṇā kṛtsnāvidyātatkāryanāśane pravṛttasya tattvajñānasyāpi pratibandhaṃ kṛtvā svaphaladānāya dehendriyādikamavasthāpitam | na ca karmaṇā svaphalasukhaduḥkhādibhogaścittavṛttibhirvinā sampādayituṃ śakyate | tasmādyadyapi svābhāvikānāmapi cittapariṇāmānāṃ kathaṃcidyogenābhibhavaḥ śakyeta kartuṃ tathāpi tattvajñānādiva yogādapi prārabdhaphalasya karmaṇaḥ prābalyādavaśyambhāvini cittasya cāñcalye yogena tannivāraṇamaśakyamahaṃ svabodhādeva manye | tasmādanupapannametadātmaupamyena sarvatra samadarśī paramo yogī mata ityarjunasyākṣepaḥ |34||

etadevāha cañcalamiti | nanu ātmānaṃ rathinaṃ viddhi śarīraṃ rathameva ca [KaṭhU 1.3.3] ityādi śruteḥ,

āhuḥ śarīraṃ rathamindriyāṇi
hayānabhīṣūnmana indriyeśam |
vartmāni mātrā dhiṣaṇaṃ ca sūtam [BhP 7.15.41] iti smṛteśca

buddhermano niyantṛtvadarśanādvivekavatyā buddhyā mano vaśīkartuṃ śaktyameveti cedata āha balavat | svapraśamakamauṣudhamapi balavān rogo yathā na gaṇayati, tathaiva svabhāvādeva baliṣṭhaṃ mano vivekavatīmapi buddhim | kiṃ ca dṛḍhamatisūkṣmabuddhisūcyāpi lohamiva sahasā bhettumaśakyam | vāyorityākāśe dodhūyamānasya vāyornigrahaṃ kumbhakādinā nirodhamiva yogenāṣṭāṅgena manaso'pi nirodhaṃ duṣkaraṃ manye ||34||

tadevāha cañcalaṃ hīti | manaḥ svabhāvena cañcalam | nanu

ātmānaṃ rathinaṃ viddhi śarīraṃ rathameva ca |
buddhiṃ tu sārathiṃ viddhi manaḥ pragrahameva ca ||
indriyāṇi hayānāhurviṣayāṃsteṣu gocarān |
ātmendriyamanoyukto bhoktetyāhurmanīṣiṇaḥ || [KaṭhU 1.3.3]

iti śruterbuddhiniyamyaṃ manaḥ śrūyate tato vivekinyāṃ buddhyāṃ śakyaṃ tadvaśīkartumiti cettatrāha pramāthīti | tādṛśīmapi buddhiṃ pramathati | kutaḥ ? balavatsvapraśamakamapyauṣadhaṃ yathā balavān rogo na gaṇayati, tadvat | kiṃ ca dṛḍhaṃ sūcyā lauhamiva tādṛśyāpi buddhyā bhettumaśakyamato yogenāpi tasya nigrahamahaṃ vāyoriva suduṣkaraṃ manye | na hi vāyormuṣṭinā dhartuṃ śakyate atastatropāyaṃ brūhīti ||34||
