pradhānībhūtā kevalā iti dvividhaiva bhaktirmadhyame'sminnadhyāyaṣaṭke bhagavatoktā | tu tṛtīyā guṇībhūtā bhaktiḥ karmaṇi jñānini yogini ca karmādiphalasiddhyarthā dṛśyate | tasyāḥ prādhānyābhāvātna bhaktitvavyapadeśaḥ | kintu tatra tatra karmādīnāmeva prādhānyāt | prādhānyena vyapadeśā bhavanti iti nyāyena karmatvajñānatvayogatvavyapadeśaḥ | tadvatāmapi karmitvajñānitvayogitvavyapadeśaḥ | na tu bhaktatvavyapadeśaḥ | phalaṃ ca sakāmakarmaṇaḥ svargo niṣkāmakarmaṇo jñānayogo jñānayogayornirvāṇamokṣa iti |

atha dvidhāyā bhakteḥ phalamucyate | tatra pradhānībhūtāsu bhaktiṣu madhye ārtādiṣu triṣu yāḥ karmamiśrāstisraḥ sakāmā bhaktayastāsāṃ phalaṃ tattatkāmaprāptiḥ | viṣayasādguṇyāttadante sukhaiśvaryapradhānasālokyamokṣaprāptiśca, na tu karmaphalasvargabhogānta iva pātaḥ | yadvakṣyate yānti madyājino'pi mām [Gītā 9.25] iti | caturthyā jñānamiśrāyāstata utkṛṣṭāyāstu phalaṃ śāntaratiḥ sanakādiṣviva | bhaktabhagavatkāruṇyādhikyavaśātkasyāścittasyāḥ phalaṃ premotkarṣaśca śrīśukādiṣviva | karmamiśrā bhaktiryadi niṣkāmā syāttadā tasyāḥ

atha jñānakarmādyamiśrāyāḥ śuddhāyā ananyākiñcanottamādiparyāyāḥ bhakterbahuprabhedāyā dāsyasakhyādipremavatpārṣadatvameva phalamityādikaṃ śrībhāgavataṭīkāyāṃ bahuśaḥ pratipāditam | atrāpi prasaṅgavaśātsādhyabhaktivivekaḥ saṃkṣipya darśitaḥ ||16||

tarhi tvāṃ ke prapadyante tatrāha caturvidhā iti | sukṛtinaḥ supaṇḍitāḥ svavarṇāśramocitakarmaṇā madekāntibhāvena ca sampannā janā māṃ bhajante | te ca caturvidhāḥ | tatrārtaḥ śatrukleśādyāpadgrastastadvināśecchurgajendrādiḥ | jijñāsurviviktātmasvarūpajñānecchuḥ śaunakādiḥ | arthārthī rājyādisampadicchurdhruvādiḥ | jñānī śeṣatvena svāmtānaṃ śeṣitvena parātmānaṃ ca māṃ jñātavān śukādiḥ | eṣvārtādayaḥ sakāmāḥ, jñānī tu niṣkāmaḥ | ārtārthārthinoḥ paratra jijñāsutāsampattaye tayorantarāle jijñāsorupanyāsaḥ ||16||
