Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. इन्द्रोपमान्पार्थिवपुत्रपौत्रान्पश्याविशेषेण हतान्प्रमादात् ।
तीर्त्वा समुद्रं वणिजः समृद्धाः सन्नाः कुनद्यामिव हेलमानाः ।
अमर्षितैर्ये निहताः शयाना निःसंशयं ते त्रिदिवं प्रपन्नाः ॥ २३ ॥
