This Sanskrit edition of the Bhagavatapurana. It is one of the traditional eighteen Mahapuranas presented as an encyclopedia of ancient Indian history and knowledge. The extant edition contains 12 books originally written in 18,000 Sanskrit verses

Verse 7.9.14

तद्यच्छ मन्युमसुरश्च हतस्त्वयाद्य ।
मोदेत साधुरपि वृश्चिकसर्पहत्या ।
लोकाश्च निर्वृतिमिताः प्रतियन्ति सर्वे ।
रूपं नृसिंह विभयाय जनाः स्मरन्ति ॥ १४ ॥

tadyaccha manyumasuraśca hatastvayādya |
modeta sādhurapi vṛścikasarpahatyā |
lokāśca nirvṛtimitāḥ pratiyanti sarve |
rūpaṃ nṛsiṃha vibhayāya janāḥ smaranti || 14 ||
