This Sanskrit edition of the Bhagavatapurana. It is one of the traditional eighteen Mahapuranas presented as an encyclopedia of ancient Indian history and knowledge. The extant edition contains 12 books originally written in 18,000 Sanskrit verses

दक्ष उवाच ।
भूयाननुग्रह अहो भवता कृतो मे ।
दण्डस्त्वया मयि भृतो यदपि प्रलब्धः ।
न ब्रह्मबन्धुषु च वां भगवन् अवज्ञा ।
तुभ्यं हरेश्च कुत एव धृतव्रतेषु ॥ १३ ॥

bhūyānanugraha aho bhavatā kṛto me |
daṇḍastvayā mayi bhṛto yadapi pralabdhaḥ |
na brahmabandhuṣu ca vāṃ bhagavan avajñā |
tubhyaṃ hareśca kuta eva dhṛtavrateṣu || 13 ||
