A number of mandalas have been preserved in the Kathmandu Valley. Among the mandalas seen in places such as the court yards of Buddhist temples, the Dharmadhatuvagishvara-mandala (Dharmadhatu-mandala) is the most popular. The Sixteen Bodhisattvas, who may be regarded as representatives of Bodhisattvas, are included in the deities of the Dharmadhatu-mandala.

Compass (clockwise, starting from west)—Amitābha, Tārā, Amoghasiddhi, Locanā, Akṣobhya, Mānakī, Ratnasaṃbhava, Pāṇḍarā.

The Sixteen Bodhisattvas:—

East—(4) Ākāśagarbha, (3) Kṣitigarbha, (2) Akṣayamati, (1) Samantabhadra;
South—(8) Vajragarbha, (7) Sāgaramati, (6) Ratnapāṇi, (5) Gaganagañja;
West—(12) Jālinīprabha, (11) Candraprabha, (10) Mahāsthāmaprāpta, (9) Avalokiteśvara;
North—(16) Sarvanivaraṇaviṣkambhin, (15) Sarvaśokatamonirgatamati, (14) Pratibhānakūṭa, (13) Amitaprabha.

षोडश बोधिसत्त्व—काठमाडौं उपत्यकामा धेरै प्रकारका मण्डलहरू संरक्षित भएका छन् । यी मण्डलहरू मध्ये बौद्ध विहारहरूको प्राङ्गणमा अवस्थित धर्मधातु वागीश्वर मण्डल (धर्मधातु मण्डल) अति प्रसिद्ध छन् । धर्मधातु मण्डलमा सोह बोधिसत्वलाई अरु देवताहरूका साथ प्रवेश गराइएका हुन्छन् ।

Shodasha Bodhisattva - Several types of mandalas have been preserved in the Kathmandu valley. The Northern Himalayan region in Nepal offers a wide variety of Buddhist objects such as paintings, scriptures, sculptures, ritualistic objects, etc. Buddhism once entered Tibet from Nepal and has blended in its own way there, resulting in Tibetan Buddhism which is divided into many schools. The items found here are exhibited in the National Museum of Nepal (Rashtriya Museum).
