This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 75.83

एथ मारिष युष्मे पि उपेथ हयसाह्वयं ।
आयसं नगरं ताम्रं लंघेथ राक्षसीपुरं ।
अथ खनथ हेष्ठातो ततो गंसथ स्वस्तिना ॥ ८३ ॥

etha māriṣa yuṣme pi upetha hayasāhvayaṃ |
āyasaṃ nagaraṃ tāmraṃ laṃghetha rākṣasīpuraṃ |
atha khanatha heṣṭhāto tato gaṃsatha svastinā || 83 ||

The leader of the merchants said, “Come, my friends, do you, too, repair to this horse of renown. Leap out of this iron stronghold, this gloomy fortress of the Sirens. Or else dig beneath it and escape to safety.” (83)
