The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.189.12

चिन्नभश्चेतनं त्यक्त्वा ब्रह्माहमिति पश्यति ।
अयं देहोऽयमाधार इति बघ्नाति भावनाम् ॥ १२ ॥

cinnabhaścetanaṃ tyaktvā brahmāhamiti paśyati |
ayaṃ deho'yamādhāra iti baghnāti bhāvanām || 12 ||

The living soul of Brahma, being born of the mundane egg in a corporeal body; forgot or rather forsook to think of its incorporeal intellectuality, and thought himself as composed of his present material body only. He looked into it and thought, that this was his body and the recipient of his soul:
