The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.118.14

आसन्नमद्गुबकगृध्रबिडालसर्पदृष्ट्या भयं भवति यत्सलिलाशयानाम् ।
तस्याग्रतस्तृणमिवाशनिपातभङ्गो जातिस्मरेण विदुषोक्तमदः पुरा मे ॥ १४ ॥

āsannamadgubakagṛdhrabiḍālasarpadṛṣṭyā bhayaṃ bhavati yatsalilāśayānām |
tasyāgratastṛṇamivāśanipātabhaṅgo jātismareṇa viduṣoktamadaḥ purā me || 14 ||

The fear that overtakes the fishes in their native waters, at the sight of rapacious animals, is far greater than those of thunder claps or thunder bolts falling upon them; and this I know from remembrance of my past life of a fish, and cannot be denied by the wise.
