Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. एवमस्त्विति सा तेन पाण्डव प्रतिनन्दिता ।
जमदग्निं ततः पुत्रं सा जज्ञे काल आगते ।
तेजसा वर्चसा चैव युक्तं भार्गवनन्दनम् ॥ २८ ॥

jamadagniṃ tataḥ putraṃ sā jajñe kāla āgate |
