मधुमत्ता नृपेश्वर
गन्धाक्तः शीतलो वायुर्
मन्द-गामी वहत्य् अलम्
सहस्र-दल-पद्मानां
रजो वीक्षेपयन् मुहुः
पुंस्-कोकिलाः कोकिलाश् च
मयूराः सरसाः शुकाः
कूजन्ते मधुरं नादं
निकुञ्ज-शिखरेषु च
पुष्प-शय्या-सहस्राणि
जल-कुल्याः सहस्रशः

patanti yatra bhramarā
madhumattā nṛpeśvara
gandhāktaḥ śītalo vāyur
manda-gāmī vahaty alam
sahasra-dala-padmānāṃ
rajo vīkṣepayan muhuḥ
puṃs-kokilāḥ kokilāś ca
mayūrāḥ sarasāḥ śukāḥ
kūjante madhuraṃ nādaṃ
nikuñja-śikhareṣu ca
puṣpa-śayyā-sahasrāṇi
jala-kulyāḥ sahasraśaḥ

patanti—fly; yatra—where; bhramarā—bees; madhumattā—mad after honey; nṛpeśvara—O king of kings; gandhāktaḥ—fragrant; śītalaḥ—cool; vāyuḥ—breeze; manda-gāmī—gentle; vahaty—blows; alam—greatly; sahasra-dala-padmānām—of thousand-petal lotuses; rajaḥ—the pollen; vīkṣepayan—scattreing; muhuḥ—at every moment; puṃs-kokilāḥ—male cuckoos; kokilāḥ—fermale cuckoos; ca—and; mayūrāḥ—peacocks; sarasāḥ—cranes; śukāḥ—parrots; kūjante—coo; madhuram—sweetly; nādam—sound; nikuñja-śikhareṣu—in the groves of trees; ca—and; puṣpa—flower; śayyā—couches; sahasrāṇi—thousands; jala-kulyāḥ—streams; sahasraśaḥ—thousands.

. . . where many bees, mad after honey, flew, where a fragrant, cool, gentle breeze blew, scattering the pollen of many thousand-petal lotus flowers, where cuckoo couples, peacocks, cranes, and parrots cooed sweetly in the groves, where there were thousands of flower-couches and thousands of artifical streams, O king of kings, . . .
