The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 8.2

यमेकरात्रेण तु भर्तुराज्ञया जगाम मार्गं सह तेन वाजिना ।
इयाय भर्तुर्विरहं विचिन्तयंस्तमेव पन्थानमहोभिरष्टभिः ॥ २ ॥

yamekarātreṇa tu bharturājñayā jagāma mārgaṃ saha tena vājinā |
iyāya bharturvirahaṃ vicintayaṃstameva panthānamahobhiraṣṭabhiḥ || 2 ||

But the road which by his lord's command he had traversed in one night with that horse,—that same road he now travelled in eight days, pondering his lord's absence.
