by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 95.3

उत्थेहि विजितसंग्राम पूर्णभरो त्वं अनृण विचर लोके ।
चित्तं हि ते विशुद्धं यथ चन्द्रो पंचदशरात्रे ॥ ३ ॥

utthehi vijitasaṃgrāma pūrṇabharo tvaṃ anṛṇa vicara loke |
cittaṃ hi te viśuddhaṃ yatha candro paṃcadaśarātre || 3 ||

Arise thou who art victorious in the fight. Fully laden art thou. Fare through the world free of debt. Chaste is thy heart like the moon in its fifteenth night. (3)
