This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.
Verse 64.512
येन तस्य क्वचिज् जनियति ईश्वरत्वं प्रदुष्टचित्तो न भवति कश्चि सत्वो ।
पापं च कर्मं गरहति सो परेषां विशुद्धशीलो भवति सदाप्रमत्तो ॥ ५१२ ॥
yena tasya kvacij janiyati īśvaratvaṃ praduṣṭacitto na bhavati kaści satvo |
pāpaṃ ca karmaṃ garahati so pareṣāṃ viśuddhaśīlo bhavati sadāpramatto || 512 ||
No being who acknowledges his sovereignty becomes depraved of heart. He censures the evil deeds of others and becomes pure in morality and always alert. (512)
