This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 21.38

संप्रतिजातो सुगतो समेहि पदेहि धरणिं अवतिष्ठेत् ।
सप्त च पदानि अगमा सर्वां च दिशां विलोकेसि ॥ ३८ ॥

saṃpratijāto sugato samehi padehi dharaṇiṃ avatiṣṭhet |
sapta ca padāni agamā sarvāṃ ca diśāṃ vilokesi || 38 ||

May the Sugata just now born tread the earth with even feet. He has taken seven strides and scanned all the regions of the world. (38)
