Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अथापरेण भल्लेन धनुश्चिच्छेद मारिष ।
सारथिं चास्य समरे क्षिप्रहस्तो न्यपातयत् ।
हयांश्चास्यावधीद्राजन्नुभौ च पार्ष्णिसारथी ॥ २२ ॥

sārathiṃ cāsya samare kṣiprahasto nyapātayat |
