Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यत्त्वद्य मे व्यवसितं तच्छृणुध्वं नरर्षभाः ।
इह प्रायमुपासिष्ये यूयं व्रजत वै गृहान् ।
भ्रातरश्चैव मे सर्वे प्रयान्त्वद्य पुरं प्रति ॥ १० ॥

yattvadya me vyavasitaṃ tacchṛṇudhvaṃ nararṣabhāḥ |
iha prāyamupāsiṣye yūyaṃ vrajata vai gṛhān |
bhrātaraścaiva me sarve prayāntvadya puraṃ prati || 10 ||
