Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततोऽपरे तत्प्रतिमा गजोत्तमा जिगीषवः संयति सव्यसाचिनम् ।
तथा कृतास्तेन यथैव तौ द्विपौ ततः प्रभग्नं सुमहद्रिपोर्बलम् ॥ २१ ॥

tato'pare tatpratimā gajottamā jigīṣavaḥ saṃyati savyasācinam |
tathā kṛtāstena yathaiva tau dvipau tataḥ prabhagnaṃ sumahadriporbalam || 21 ||
