The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 11.64

यदात्थ वा दीप्तफलां कुलोचितां कुरुष्व धर्माय मखक्रियामिति ।
नमो मखेभ्यो न हि कामये सुखं परस्य दुःखक्रिययापदिश्यते ॥ ६४ ॥

yadāttha vā dīptaphalāṃ kulocitāṃ kuruṣva dharmāya makhakriyāmiti |
namo makhebhyo na hi kāmaye sukhaṃ parasya duḥkhakriyayāpadiśyate || 64 ||

'And as for what thou saidst, "be diligent in sacrifices for religion, such as are worthy of thy race and bring a glorious fruit,"—honour to such sacrifices! I desire not that fruit which is sought by causing pain to others!
