The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.96.24

चित्त्वं स्वभावं विस्मृत्य बद्धास्था ये शरीरके ।
तैः सुवर्णं परित्यज्य गृहीतं भस्म वस्तुतः ॥ २४ ॥

cittvaṃ svabhāvaṃ vismṛtya baddhāsthā ye śarīrake |
taiḥ suvarṇaṃ parityajya gṛhītaṃ bhasma vastutaḥ || 24 ||

Those who forget their spiritual nature, and rely their trust in the body; resemble those foolish people, who forsake the gold to lay hold on ashes.
