The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सुखदुःखादयस्त्वेते दृश्यन्ते यदि वा मुखे ।
दृश्यन्त एव तुच्छत्वान्नानुलिम्पन्ति ते मनः ॥ ७ ॥

sukhaduḥkhādayastvete dṛśyante yadi vā mukhe |
dṛśyanta eva tucchatvānnānulimpanti te manaḥ || 7 ||

Joy and grief now and then overcast his countenance, (as a cloud and sunbeam hide the face of the sky); but they cannot over shadow his soul, which is bright as eternal day.
