Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. सर्वा दिशो योजनमात्रमन्तरं स तिर्यगूर्ध्वं च रुरोध वै ध्वजः ।
न संसज्जेत्तरुभिः संवृतोऽपि तथा हि माया विहिता भौवनेन ॥ ९ ॥

sarvā diśo yojanamātramantaraṃ sa tiryagūrdhvaṃ ca rurodha vai dhvajaḥ |
na saṃsajjettarubhiḥ saṃvṛto'pi tathā hi māyā vihitā bhauvanena || 9 ||
