Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स तत्र निक्षिप्य सुतं महर्षिरुवाच सूर्याग्निसमप्रभावम् ।
जाते पुत्रे वनमेवाव्रजेथा राज्ञः प्रियाण्यस्य सर्वाणि कृत्वा ॥ २१ ॥

sa tatra nikṣipya sutaṃ maharṣiruvāca sūryāgnisamaprabhāvam |
jāte putre vanamevāvrajethā rājñaḥ priyāṇyasya sarvāṇi kṛtvā || 21 ||
