Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कपोतधर्मिणस्तस्य दुर्भिक्षे सति दारुणे ।
नाविद्यत तदा विप्राः संचयस्तान्निबोधत ।
क्षीणौषधिसमावायो द्रव्यहीनोऽभवत्तदा ॥ ५ ॥

kapotadharmiṇastasya durbhikṣe sati dāruṇe |
nāvidyata tadā viprāḥ saṃcayastānnibodhata |
