Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पिता सखायो गुरवः स्त्रियश्च न निर्गुणा नाम भवन्ति लोके ।
अनन्यभक्ताः प्रियवादिनश्च हिताश्च वश्याश्च तथैव राजन् ॥ १ ॥
