This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 100.24

अर्जुनो नरकं शक्तिशूलं अधोशिरो ऊर्धपादो प्रपन्नो ।
आंगीरसं गौतमं हेठयित्वा ऋषिं तपस्विं चिरब्रह्मचारिं ॥ २४ ॥

arjuno narakaṃ śaktiśūlaṃ adhośiro ūrdhapādo prapanno |
āṃgīrasaṃ gautamaṃ heṭhayitvā ṛṣiṃ tapasviṃ cirabrahmacāriṃ || 24 ||

Arjuna fell headlong into the hell Shaktishula for that he had violated Angirasa Gautama, the ascetic seer who had so long lived the brahma-life. (24)
