This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 37.31

यो सर्वलोके चरति महामुनिः नामेन सो नारदो सत्यविक्रमो ।
सो अब्रवीत् पर्वते गन्धमादने गत्वान भूताधिपतिं हि पृच्छथ ॥ ३१ ॥

yo sarvaloke carati mahāmuniḥ nāmena so nārado satyavikramo |
so abravīt parvate gandhamādane gatvāna bhūtādhipatiṃ hi pṛcchatha || 31 ||

“The great seer named Narada, who ranges over the whole world and who is valiant in truth, said to us, on Mount Gandhamadana ‘Go and ask the lord of creatures’.” (31)
