The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

दशरथ उवाच ।
क्लिष्टोऽयं यदविद्यार्थं विपश्चिदविपश्चितः ।
तदहं चेष्टितं मन्ये कष्टोऽवस्तुनि किंग्रहः ॥ १ ॥

daśaratha uvāca |
kliṣṭo'yaṃ yadavidyārthaṃ vipaścidavipaścitaḥ |
tadahaṃ ceṣṭitaṃ manye kaṣṭo'vastuni kiṃgrahaḥ || 1 ||

Dasaratha said:—I understand that Vipaschit has acted unwisely, in taking so much pains in his wanderings for a knowledge of the spheres;because it is all in vain to inquire into unrealities and useless matters, and it was his ignorance or avidya alone, that led him to the search.
