The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.25.47

पदात्तस्मादुदेत्यन्तः प्राणार्को बहिरुन्मुखः ।
अपानेऽस्तंगते प्राणः समुदेति हृदम्बुजात् ॥ ४७ ॥

padāttasmādudetyantaḥ prāṇārko bahirunmukhaḥ |
apāne'staṃgate prāṇaḥ samudeti hṛdambujāt || 47 ||

The apana or inhaling breath having set in the cell of the lotus like heart, the exhaling breath of prana rises at the very moment to come out of it, as the shadow of the night being dispersed from sight, the bright sun of the day ushers his light.
