The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पीयते यस्तु यच्छक्त्या पीतं तेनैव तद्भवेत् ।
पात्रेण पीयते पानं पाता यस्तूच्यते नरः ॥ ४१ ॥

pīyate yastu yacchaktyā pītaṃ tenaiva tadbhavet |
pātreṇa pīyate pānaṃ pātā yastūcyate naraḥ || 41 ||

He who eats and drinks, is said to be the eater and drinker; and not the plate or cup, which hold the eatables or the drinkables.
