The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

लुठति त्वां विना देहः काष्ठलोष्टसमः क्षितौ ।
सन्नप्यसन्नगोच्छ्रायः श्यामास्विव रविं विना ॥ ६३ ॥

luṭhati tvāṃ vinā dehaḥ kāṣṭhaloṣṭasamaḥ kṣitau |
sannapyasannagocchrāyaḥ śyāmāsviva raviṃ vinā || 63 ||

Without thee the body is a lifeless mass, like a block of wood or stone; and it is imperceptible without the soul, as the shadow of a tree in absence of the sun.
