Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.40.21

तज्जः स एव भवति वह्नेर्वह्निरिवोत्थितः ।
जन्योऽयं जनकश्चायमित्युक्ता भेदकल्पना ॥ २१ ॥

tajjaḥ sa eva bhavati vahnervahnirivotthitaḥ |
janyo'yaṃ janakaścāyamityuktā bhedakalpanā || 21 ||

It is tajja, as when we say "fire proceeds from fire" (meaning, the "mundane Brahma comes out of the spiritual Brahma." Here fire is symbolical of Brahma and the world). It is tanmaya in the expression "Brahma is the producer and produced"
