The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

विवृत्तासंख्याश्वद्विरदपुरुषाधीश्वररथप्रकृत्तोष्ट्रग्रीवाप्रसृतरुधिरोद्गारसुसरित् ।
रणोद्यानं मृत्योस्तदभवदशुष्कायुधलतं सशैलं कल्पान्ते जगदिव विपर्यस्तमखिलम् ॥ ५८ ॥

vivṛttāsaṃkhyāśvadviradapuruṣādhīśvararathaprakṛttoṣṭragrīvāprasṛtarudhirodgārasusarit |
raṇodyānaṃ mṛtyostadabhavadaśuṣkāyudhalataṃ saśailaṃ kalpānte jagadiva viparyastamakhilam || 58 ||

Now I have described the sea of blood, which flowed fast with the gore of unnumbered hosts of horses, elephants and camels, and of warriors and their leaders, and multitudes of cars, and war chariots;but it became a pleasure garden to the god of death, delighting in his bed of bloodshed, and grove of the weapons beset all around.
