Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
युधिष्ठिरस्यासमहं पुरा सखा वैयाघ्रपद्यः पुनरस्मि ब्राह्मणः ।
अक्षान्प्रवप्तुं कुशलोऽस्मि देविता कङ्केति नाम्नास्मि विराट विश्रुतः ॥ १० ॥
