Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. दृष्ट्वा च तं पतितं ब्रह्मराशिमुत्थापयामास मृतं कचोऽपि ।
विद्यां सिद्धां तामवाप्याभिवाद्य ततः कचस्तं गुरुमित्युवाच ॥ ५० ॥

dṛṣṭvā ca taṃ patitaṃ brahmarāśimutthāpayāmāsa mṛtaṃ kaco'pi |
vidyāṃ siddhāṃ tāmavāpyābhivādya tataḥ kacastaṃ gurumityuvāca || 50 ||
