Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. काली स्त्री पाण्डुरैर्दन्तैः प्रविश्य हसती निशि ।
स्त्रियः स्वप्नेषु मुष्णन्ती द्वारकां परिधावति ॥ १ ॥

kālī strī pāṇḍurairdantaiḥ praviśya hasatī niśi |
striyaḥ svapneṣu muṣṇantī dvārakāṃ paridhāvati || 1 ||
