Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तथैव गाः प्रशंसन्ति न च देयं ततः परम् ।
संनिकृष्टफलास्ता हि लघ्वर्थाश्च युधिष्ठिर ।
मातरः सर्वभूतानां गावः सर्वसुखप्रदाः ॥ ६ ॥

tathaiva gāḥ praśaṃsanti na ca deyaṃ tataḥ param |
